Timmins is Holl’s replacement for next year. Leafs don’t want to pay what Holl will be getting next year. Holl will get around 2.5 and they just signed Timmins for 1.1. Also I wonder if we finally got a D that can shoot the bomb on the PP.

If you’re looking for in-depth reading on newest #LeafsForever    Ryan O’Reilly, we profiled him today on @DailyFaceoff. Full breakdown of his game, scouting report and buyer beware.

Toronto appears to have paid above what we pegged as the ceiling return:

Acciari is no huge get, but he is a fantastic bottom-6 guy that adds size and a heavy game to the mix. He weighs 210, and plays like he weighs 230. He's only 5'10, if I recall correctly, but he hits and hits and hits - and will score 10-20 in a season (really closer to the 10-15; the year he hit 20, everyone was surprised at his early scoring spree and then he went super cold). ROR at the worst would give the bottom-6 complete legitimacy. If he could play up into the top-6 with JT & Marner, he would also work with that line based on his skillset. He'd have to elevate the way he's been playing this year . . .but honestly between Matthews and ROR, you have a couple of takeaway machines up there. Marner and Nylander have also been excellent this year, so we're sort of adding to our defense from the front-end.

I like this better than Foligno, but you're right - it's a big price tag in terms of basically all of our draft picks for the next forever.

- Monkeypunk

The bottom six does need filling out at an underrated level, acciari for sure checks a bunch of boxes they need there. Will look good on the opposite wing from Aston Reese, need a 4th line that can be accountable defensively and sustain a forecheck.

A series of blogs over a 3 month period on prospects and none of us can remember anything he said.

Forget they could have Knies slip into 3rd line for playoffs if he signs and is ready.

Kerfoot-RoR-Knies
Engvall-Kampf-Acciari

That’s a really solid bottom 6.

I feel like the deal is draft picks for ROR and Aciari, Abramov and Gaudette are nothing but the "we need to send contracts back" aspect.
- joel878

Agreed.

And I assume Gaudette is off contract after this season?

I know Dubas talks a lot about not going after rentals by big spending, but O'Reilly seems like a guy that would be open to re-signing here. No idea what I'm basing that off of other than potential to win and close to home. But still.

My exact thinking. If they can somehow get their hands on Chychrun, moving Rielly down to the second pairing, the Leafs would be solid going into the playoffs. Even a Schenn as a replacement for Holl works too. Leafs need toughness and tenacity to get out of the Atlantic. Timothy Liljegren and Mark Giordano would be a great 3rd pairing. Holl needs to be traded by the deadline.

People who write this stuff are missing all sorts of information, like what is available, and at what cost. They also have no idea how healthy or motivated O'Rielly has been all year.

So, we hope he returns to health/form. I like it better than Foligno.

You don't like Meier?

Or is it the price it'll take to get him?

Oh man, we really got to let the Chychrun thing go. It's not happening, and he's not that good anyways. 🤷

You think?

It's really early to tell, but some of the picks look promising. Our cupboards are surprisingly bountiful if you compare them to the other big teams pushing to win.
