I do find it amusing that every leafs fan acts like this is a slam-dunk win. Pretty comical.

Maybe I’m the winner? So much enjoyment.

St Louis. O'Reilly will re-sign with the blues on a team friendly deal and the Leafs will lose in the first round again.

The draft pick will be late 20s or 30s which is almost never a top 6 player. And wouldn’t help the team for 4 years in average. So it’s a useless pick for Dubas and a great trade.

Oreilly genuinely helps inch them closer to a cup, but they still need an upgrade on defense.

Wash, rinse, repeat for the leafs. Great offense average defense goaltending flat out BLOWS! Another year of out in the first round and they gave up all of those draft picks for very average players. Same old leafs!

Yeah, that ROR guy can't play a lick of defense.

Tor setting up for when Matthew’s goes home to play with Conner Bedard in the desert. Oh, and Tor will not make it out of the 1st round, again!

I can hear Russ Cohen saying this: I think we won't know who won this deal until 2026-27 because we will need to see what those premium draft picks bring for the Blues. The Blues have been (historically) very good at drafting, player development and promoting from with in so those 3 draft picks could translate to superstars for the future.

Heres my take:
I am through the moon that the Leafs have Acciari's rights (and hope they re-sign him) because I think he is going to make a big difference.
O'Reilly is a big "Win Now" move if he can stay healthy,
and such a good story for new Leafs to come in and play the Canadiens.
However, The Leafs may lose this game because of all the distraction.

So who won?
The rest of the league won, I think Dubis set an example for the future. Minnasota receiving a 4th round pick for Salary retention. What a thing to put on your resume. That changes the game. I am sure you'll see a lot more of this happening in the next few years.

For what the leafs need today yes I do think it's a win. They gave up what? A first round pick, a 3rd from Ottawa and a former 4th round prospect in Abramov + a 2nd for Accirari. That is peanuts for rental players.

People seem to think that these picks given up somehow play for the leafs in the playoffs this year or that they will drafted and matter at the start of next season. They wouldn't matter for 2 - 4 years so who cares? Window is now for the leafs.

I don’t think you know what it means to “win a trade”

Well the general saying is the team who got the best player wins the trade so the leafs won the trade.

ROR absolutely kills the Wild. I think they wanted to get him out of the West. When they meet the Leafs in the Stanley Cup final it will backfire on them.

Wild looks to thin without Fiala. But Zuccarello & Kirill the thrill always make some magic. 🎩 🪄

Stan did make a very good trade for Vermette which let to a cup in ‘15.

If only the Leafs could make it past the 1st round?!?
