Less it looks like, but assuming any trade they make will have to include a contract or 2, they could have around 2m in cap space. Bjugstad and Lafferty should both fit under the cap.

They’ll get a center now. Or someone capable of playing center making Goodrow the 5th center, and moved there in a pinch.

Would like to see him stay healthy for the whole stretch run and playoffs first before giving him one

They really should, I think they got a serious smack in the face at the importance of a competant and capable 4th line. We need these guys to play 10+ mins a game so the other lines can rest. Motte will also be very helpful on the PK.

If we have to give up more than a 4th for Motte, than we need to look elsewhere.

The cost shouldn’t be crazy. Maybe give him an extra year or 2 like they did with Vesey to keep the AAV down a bit

Motte traded for Julien Gauthier and a 7th round pick - Trade conditions: Should the Rangers advance past the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the pick will improve to the lower of the Rangers’ or the @NHLJets 2023 sixth-round selection.

Should have read a bit further.
Good trade, glad to have Motte back. Hate to see Gauthier go but he was never going to get a shot here, Hope he thrives in Ottawa.

Good to see Motte back, just hope that he can stay healthy.

Word is that Drury wants Lafferty, but Chicago has recently raised the asking price to a 2nd round pick in 2023 PLUS a lower prospect. Personally, I would do it but which lower prospect could be jamming this up and preventing it from getting done.

Going to take FOREVER to get to this years trading deadline!

Id try to move Pajuniemi, but Id hold out and wait. Just cause they want that doesnt mean they will get it. The market will dictate is final price.

If they take Kravtsov and 3rd we should do that. Idk if they would tho

I think he will quietly wait until the last possible moment to trade Kravtsov. Unlike all this other trade chatter out there, he will quietly try to raise the stock as much as he can to maximize a trade.

You figure they can’t do anything now since they got Motte, until March 3rd. They’ll probably need to accrue the last few pennies before the next trade

Lafferty is definitely worth getting since he’s cheapish next year

I would have liked to avoid trading him because its great to have extra bodies available in case of injuries, however because of the cap it probably made it impossible to happen.

Cuylle. Rydahl. Brodzinski. All available at Hartford if need depth. If top six goes down, move Goodrow up.

If Chicago ate half, they could do the deal now. But that increases the cost. But would love Lafferty at that price for next year.

Im still kind of left scratching my head as to why theyre not using Brod. Hes not perfect, but I feel like whenever hes played he hasnt been particularly bad.

I would do a second and Kravtsov, for Lafferty with 50% and run

I kind of prefer Bjugstad, hes had a much longer career and you kind of know what youre getting out of him. Something about this feels like Ryan Carpenter all over again, where I was super high on him as a depth player and then we finally got him and was utter trash.

I wonder if its because Brod would have to clear waivers every time they bring him up and down and dont want to risk losing him on a claim right now.

Lafferty at $57500 would be enormous tho

I just did the deal

Kravtsov, ‘23 3rd and ‘24 2nd for Lafferty 50%, and that puts us at 1.520 projected cap space

If that isn’t enough to get him I mean cmon. That a lot but could be worth it
