Reading between the lines of three things, I believe Kane will agree to be moved.

1. Kane said several weeks ago that his wife supports his decision to go anywhere.

2. Kane said a couple weeks ago that he wants to do right by the organization.

3. Kane played the other night like he had something to prove (his health / ability). His skating, shiftiness, creativity on and off the puck, etc, were "the Kane of old."

Sure, he probably preferred NYR/TOR for the chance to parlay it into a long term deal. But now he will just focus on where he can go for the next 2-3 months. Where can he win, where will he fit, and where can he boost his production to earn a new contract in a desired place this summer. That will inform his list. Honestly, NYR/TOR being off the table might grow the size of his list and get the Hawks a better return.

He has the support system and resources to make it comfortable on his family for a few months.

Add to that the fact that Chicago may not be a lot of fun the rest of the year with the coming fire sale, and it definitely is not the best place for his to showcase his talents for a new contract / desired location for next year.

I can only imagine one scenario where KD could move Murphy. I guess retain 1/2 salary and send a future 1st or 2nd with him. But I would rather just play him in the 2nd or 3rd pair for 2 more years. Then hope you can get a 7th for him at the TDL when he has an expiring contract.
