Watching Leafs vs Wild........ Filip Gustavsson has stopped all 7 shots so far. Looks solid
Filip Gustavsson is 2nd in SV& (928) in the NHL. 2nd in GAA (2.11) and is 24-15-8
Filip Gustavsson is 24 years old. Cam Talbot is UFA in the summer, when he turns 36.
WTF was Pierre Dorion thinking |

Great point. Some were even good for Ottawa but the return wasn't at all (Nick Paul for Mathieu Joseph) |

Hurricanes' coach knows his business. Outside of Chabot and Zub you can destroy the Sens on the forecheck. A rookie and Hamonic on the second pairing and Holden and Brannstrom on the third pairing - ripe for the picking by any good team. |

Man, it feels like Carolina has been telegraphing every move Ottawa makes right now, I think they have the same copy of coaching for dummies DJ has been using |

I feel like nobody has played badly. They’re just better. Coached better too. UGHHHHH!! I nearly threw something on that 3rd goal. |

No puck luck tonight. No bottom 6 and you can't beat a good team without a bottom six. |

How many times has the word meaningfull been used in regards to the Sens.
Or a more comical talking point, now that the books are cleared. If they play well dorion will buy them a rental. |

Only a 1:30 of sustained offence pressure throughout the game. That was during the p.p in the 3rd. That was likely a result of Carolina easing up a bit at that point.
Although i believe this was a reflection of poor coaching.
The players from top to bottom , have to take responsibilty as well. Playing slow, and seemingly unaware of the plays they are making.
It was a bad game to watch , the scoreboard does not lie

A game that highlights these three facts:
- Sens are defintiely not yet near the top teams in in East
- Sens are constantly out coached
- Sens are missing something on D and in the defense zone. Could be that elusive RHD but I suspect more and more it is a defensive structure and better defensive coaching
Weak play by Branny on the 3rd goal results in no clear and a quick goal and that's the game. |

Don't laugh. Dorion is more than capable of squandering as many assets as possible if it makes him look a little better.
When I look at a game like this I can't help but think that this team can't possibly be this bad; not with all that talent. I can understand them losing to a better team but play should not be that lopsided. It keeps coming back to the coaching.
Shouldn't have traded Zaitsev. Sorry but I just couldn't help it. |

Every year you have these UFA gems just sitting there to fill up your bottom 6 for nothing, and Ottawa never gets one (or more!). Milano, Steel, Leivo, M. Johansen, Janmark, Bjugstad, Cousins. Many 750k, all sub 1.25, all sitting for a week+ after FA opens. Instead we re-sign Gambrell for 950k. Happy to wave goodbye to Gambrell, Brass and Watson. Sad for another year of Kelly. |

100% in agreement - why do it? Easier to trade once the bonus is paid. I'm pretty sure it's internal politics - Dorion doesn't want his intro to new owners to be 'nice to meet you, I'm Pierre - by the way you need to pay this traffic pylon a 2M bonus'. A higher second in a marquee draft year could be a real talent.

Dorion should not be trying to save his job right now - rather he should be preparing the Sens for 2024, 2025, 2026 playoffs.
F this season, the team should stay commited to the rebuild and trading Zaitsev is stupid without something significant done with it |

Hopefully you are right and we don't have to worry about PD dreaming on a grander scale. |

Too bad about this season, since there may have been a real opportunity here. The changing of the guard that many have hoped for / speculated appears to be happening, at least this year, with both Pitts / Washington being outside the playoffs.
Problem is that Buffalo and Detroit are looking a step ahead of ottawa. Cant say if all of this will persist into next season, but hopefully the team can continue to progress and develop.
Some on paper winnable games coming up.

Buffalo, Los Angeles, Detroit...... look at the D-men they have:
BUF: Henri Jokiharju, Owen Power, Rasmus Dahlin,
LAK: Tobias Bjornfot, Sean Durzi, Michael Anderson, Brandt Clarke
DET: Moritz Seider, William Wallinder, Simon Edvinsson
Chabot and Sanderson are solid but the team needs their D prospects (Brannstrom, Thomson, Jacob Bernard-Docker, Tyler Kleven) to develop, and develop quickly! |
