If the folks in charge now, specifically Scott can’t see that this team can no longer spend to the cap and “compete” that is on them. You can’t blame Clarke for that. That is what you call complete incompetence, the writing is on the wall of what this team is. I think they are moving away from the spend to cap and “compete”. The letter is an indicator - ClaudeFather
The letter is nothing but a marketing ploy.
This organization has done nothing to suggest they are moving toward, or have accepted anything close to a rebuild.
Watch FA this summer to see just how much they believe in that letter. |

Nobody has EVER said that Clarke has a hand in the day-to-day. He's there for the big picture, pivotal stuff, like hiring Chuck. Likely he was one of the advocates for firing Hexy, too. And we know he personally hand selected Homer as his successor.
For better or worse, Scott is upholding the "Flyers Family" thing that places Bob Clarke at the center of the Flyers' universe. It was the way things were when Snider was still around. And Scott is simply keeping that tradition alive. - Tomahawk
If Scott can’t see the direction of the team that’s just stupidity on his part. can’t see folks at Comcast running back to Clarke after the debacle this team has become. Just doesn’t add up |

Would Clarke or the old guard ever do something like that? Marketing ploy or not |

Nobody says Clarke is involved in every sin or decision. I highly doubt they asked Bob, or he voiced his opinion around that letter.
Think if he beat the drums vocally that they need change in that FO, Fletcher would still be around?
They are all in cahoots together. To keep that outdated Flyer BS alive, the same BS they doubled down on this summer with Torts.
Nobody is singling out any one person perhaps more than Scott himself for what we see today, but there is a reason this organization finds itself as a laughing stock that’s unable to move into the modern game.
It’s sure as hell partly because of the men obsessed with how things were done, and keeping a “Flyer” family intact. |

yet, I vividly remember comments on this very board that the Flyers would never win a cup with Snider alive and at the helm. It was Snider, now it's country club- this board is never short on speculations. - missingmike
What's being talked about today is not speculation. |

Where does Chuck Fletcher rank in terms of the worst GMs in league history?
As bad as he is, I still don't think he can touch guys like Houle and Milbury.
Dudes like R Shero, Chia, Holland, Sather and Burke could do a lot of damage at their worst, but they at least won something before. Then you have guys like Waddell and Sweeney who used to be memes but have rehabbed their reputations with recent success.
Is Chuck more comparable to guys like JFJ, Button, Benning, Gillis and MacLean?
Is he even the worst Flyers GM of all time? - Tomahawk
In my lifetime Fletcher is the worst. Almost everything this man touches turns to sh!t. I'll gihkm the G trade and that might be it.
Edit: I meant worst Flyers GM. Not in the history of the NHL. |

Sure you can. Holmgren also. It's where the philosophy comes from. Let's just take another run at it. Do you think the Flyers are going to sit on whatever cap space they have to work with for 23/24? |

This Flyers way is all complete BS, the moves made are strictly tied to the bubble run and pre bubble play where they think if healthy they are a good team. I think it has set it that we are not. |

The Niskanen trade was a good move. That's about it.

Do you think he knows it’s his hometown? I honestly don’t care about the hometown thing and I doubt it’s on his mind. We also don’t know if Torts has been saying to him he hasn’t been good - ClaudeFather
Of course he does, not a coincidence he sits him them in an 82 game schedule |

Even that one has a stain on it as Niskanen retired much earlier than anticipated. |

Reread back through the thread. Not sure how you cannot be aware of what is going on. It's well documented.

The noise was loud this past off season after the moves they made. There will be severe scrutiny and hysterical laughing at this organization if they go for it this summer lol |

They don't care. They're tone deaf. The NHL has left them behind for much of the last decade. It hasn't sunk it yet, why would it now? |

Always the bubble team. Past couple years have been real bad. Idk man haha, if they go for it this summer I think it’s time we all just walk away for good |

They're not running back to him... aside from Hexy freezing him out for a bit he was really never ever gone.
And the parent company doesn't even notice the Flyers. They're an insignificant part of their business portfolio. A rounding error. A few down seasons and 10% attendance reduction isn't gonna set off any alarm bells. They're more interested in Spectacor growing e-sports than the Flyers competing for the Stanley Cup anyway. |

My expectations are very low, I am not that vested anymore. Yes, it's frustrating to lose a favorite team, but it does not drive me crazy on the daily basis anymore/ |

So 9 points out of the last wild card spot. I suppose we are hoping for as many trades at the deadline now. - Aaron_85
8 points. 👉 But a ton of good teams to pass who have games in hand right behind the Panthers. So sell, but Comcast won't bottom out so long flyers draw 18-19000 |
