I'd rather die of thirst and turn to ash then even get near anything you'd ever offer me.

Fine but you’re gonna have to deal with Kane for 3+ years

(I think he'd be a better fit on the Canes than on the Rangers just because Carolina's all defense and can insulate him better, but I'd still prefer somebody better all around)

Breaking:
Drury resigns as GM, with Sather taking temporary reign, and completes his first trade in his second reign, though as an acting GM.
Rangers trade Tarasenko to the Capitals for defenseman Dylan McIrath.

It just sucks that not many share in my excitement of this opportunity in getting Kane. It’s a shame

I’d bet the cost is the determining factor for many.

I get it but I think we’ll all be pleasantly surprised.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been petrified of giving up Cuylle in it. I don’t think it would get to any other prospect we deem painful like him tho. Jones and Kravtsov are not painful enough, for me anyway. I know you like Kravtsov but he made his own bed, he forced the rangers hand. What a different story it could’ve been if he just went to Hartford.

Right but like there are other options that would address the actual weaknesses of the roster instead of making them even worse.
- BINGO!

I agree Bingo that other options than Kane are out there to fill a greater current NYR need to address their weaknesses, but disagree with you concluding that acquiring Kane would make them worse. It may however backfire resulting simply in zero to just minimal gain leaving them short of their goal.

The latter boils down to the assumption Kane only wants the Rangers, making the trade cost minimal in putting the onus on the organization that paid him dearly for his career. If all rumored is accurate, his minimal trade cost is the only reason why I would acquire him despite his hip issue in sort of taking a "free" chance on that uncertainty.

However, the Rangers results would likely benefit greater through exploring better options needed, as I mentioned on the prior blog's pg. 12. They need more energy & toughness up front, & despite a current 6-2-1 span, their defensive game struggles & lazy play are a worry in their past 8 of 9 overall games in having yielded 3 or 4 goals in 8 of them (4-GA 5 times, including in 4 of their last 5 games).
That's why I earlier suggested per word of scouting him last weekend, to see if tough NSH wing Tanner Jeannot is indeed available. Plus see what Columbus now wants for defensive minded d'man Gavrikov given his deal to Boston fell apart. Or check with Vancouver on acquiring Luke Schenn as a low cost option to pair with Schneider.

No one has ever been pro toughness more than me over the years. But I see the league changing with speed and skill being more prevalent year after year now. The playoff roster SHOULD HAVE Cuylle on it imo. Just in case, no pressure kid but go take care of whoever. He being the first man up for injury kind of thing. I’d love Jeannot believe me, but he’s secondary to Kane in my zany hockey brain

Suppose Mtl would be the broker and they get Kravtsov (Gorton connection) and Chicago gets the 4th a broker would get. So Mtl pays 2.6 and get Kravtsov. They wouldn’t possibly turn that down would they? And Maybe habs give the Hawks a prospect

Seems like that is the last stumbling block from things people have said

Just something else for me to get yelled at for but an idea nonetheless

The rangers are NOT getting Patrick Kane. The numbers just don’t work that’s why it’s taking so long and in the end it will be the reason it all falls apart.
