Bro… we’re not doing this all over again

What aren’t we doing? Did I miss something about getting or not getting Kane?

The rangers are NOT getting Patrick Kane. The numbers just don’t work that’s why it’s taking so long and in the end it will be the reason it all falls apart.

As much as tj will hate me for this, I agree it is taking long as the Gavrikov situation was delayed with Columbus in signing off on a trade with Boston. That trade fell apart when Boston was unable after a number of days to create sufficient cap space to fit in Gavrikov through means of performing other roster gymnastics which failed.

Problem for BOS is CBJ probably didnt want Smith and probably couldnt get CBJ to sign off on retention. BOS added more to their cap in the Caps deal then they would have in the CBJ deal.

We literally can't make it work until we accrue enough cap space over the next week unless we move multiple contracts. So inherently it is going to take time. It's not a matter of whether it's possible. It is. If the trade doesn't go through it'll be for any number of other reasons. I don't think it's that similar to BOS/CBJ

Yea I don’t think people understand due to the cap the rangers can’t make the trade yet. Going to take a few more days

It’s most definitely complicated. I just wonder in the end if they dump Mikkola to make it happen.

I’m not trying to pick on Mikkola. Please understand I don’t wanna fight about this There is just no loyalty to him imo. And “something came up” kind of thing. In the meantime hunt and peck for a guy on the cheap, and rotate the new guy and Harpur

It’s just important to note imo, that for all intents and purposes Drury thought he was done after the Blues trade. Then like I said something came up. It’s not really bad business which I think would be the only negative to it. Like it’s Mikkola over Kane? No way could that be with this opportunity in front of them. Harpur can hold his own. Mikkola hasn’t knocked my socks off, idk about you guys

Could Luke Schenn play LD?
We could use VAN as our 3rd party, and at the same time swap Mikkola for Schenn, gaining 1m in cap space.

I had it once on a cross country trip. It's comparable to Chipotle when it was good.

If the Rangers absorb the full cap hit of Toews on their LTIR, that changes things doesnt it?

They’ll explore all options I’d think. Maybe they’re doing that, convincing Toews to come with him they need a 4C but it wouldn’t be til the playoffs i assume right?

Imagine that around here

That d'man "on the cheap" end is Vancouver's 6'2" 226 lbs. UFA Luke Schenn.

The 15 year vet and Stanley Cup winner when with Tampa has an expiring $850K cap hit in being UFA eligible this Summer. His only drawback is he's primarily a Right side Defenseman and a RH shooter to be utilized with Schneider.
But we had Right side d'man Justin Braun here post deadine last season thru the postseason who worked out well playing Left D. with Schneider.

Would it be 4th line? Wouldnt it be extremely tempting to reunite the CHI line of Panarin, Toews, Kane? Theres a chemistry there that no one on this team has nor can GG coach it.

Maybe the best thing would be keeping Jones. Idk how I’d feel about this, but suppose Mikkola ends up going, they could do this:

Lindgren Fox
Miller Schneider
Jones Trouba
Harpur

I think they should switch up the miller Trouba pair. It’s taken me awhile to get there but they’ve had a rough go recently

Toews couldn’t hang (skate) with them anymore I don’t think.
