Imagine seeing a team with the most cap space in the league with the most asset in the league get beat out on a terrible offer from another team.

Not to mention everyone’s calling for this team to add some toughness….well Timo is that guy, oh he can also score 40.

But nope. Look that trade had a lot of pieces but I don’t see a lot of substance there. The Sabres could have easily beat that package but for some reason didn’t. Adams has his plan but ultimately that will be what holds this team back from being a legit contender IMO. Contenders are making trades to get better short and long term.

Until Adams makes a trade that he doesn’t HAVE to make (Eichel) he will be questioned on his all around ability.

He has done some really good things, his drafting and contract management has been exceptional. But his lack of improving the goaltending and the fact that he hasn’t made a trade outside of Eichel is leaving a lot of question marks about his ability.

Because trading for a 26 year old controlled player in his prime is a bad idea to wait for it…become contenders for the next 6-8 years…

Completely missing the point that 70 point players who are good defensively and a beast to play against don’t grow on trees and don’t become available in a trade very often.

Take into account the way the cap is set up for the Sabres, they’re in perfect position to add such a player.

I am not talking about becoming a cup contender now, but down the road. Timo Meier helps get them to that point, plus gives the fan base a potential playoff berth this year, you know something they haven’t done in 11 years.

You add a player like him now makes this team better now, and for the future. He is the perfect example of a player to add now, he’s not a Patrick Kane pending UFA.
