The Washington Commanders released quarterback Carson Wentz on Monday, in a move that had been long expected.
The move saves Washington $26.176 million on the salary cap this offseason. Wentz had two years remaining on his contract but had no guaranteed money. |

Oh man I see it on my timehop every year freaking out about that ROR trade. I hated it at the time. Hated giving up the 1st, hated giving up Compher, hated ROR honestly. ROR grew on me and I think he was great but man I was against that trade. And now I want him back. So maybe it is still a thing about me not wanting to let go. - Zschalberg
Well you can probably go back and see that I thought it was a stupid trade at the Time. We weren't ready for that yet. Especially after he traded away most of are D and forward prospects in 3 trades Winnipeg that stupid McNabb trade and then ROR and Zadorov. |

I did eventually come around and convince myself that it was 4d chess and we were going to get there in no time. Good times. |

Prob gonna have to bump up those salaries on Dahlin/Power my guy. - JCSabs06
Potentially, I am thinking 18-20 between the two of them so I went on the lower end. I don't personally see them giving Power a huge one out of the gate, instead will try to do what they are doing with Thompson and Cozens. So I could see them doing 8-9 but who knows. That said, there is still room to wiggle in that situation and this is without any cap raises since I don't want to bank on that.
Edit: That said, Power is playing himself into a nice contract and you love to see it. He never had to go through all the coaches and systems and Kreugers that Dahlin did and you can tell the difference. |

That will take him to UFA no?
I don't like a 5 year deal for him in that spot

Yea, I've got it in my head that I'd be happy if they manage 20-22 over 8 years for those 2. Power has looked very good, particularly lately. Maybe Power takes a shorter contract at lower AAV but I'm scared of what that looks like when we have to resign him in 4/5 years.

Is there anything stopping a team from offering a guy an insane one year deal with a handshake deal that they sign long term after at a discount. Thinking pasta here next year at like 15ish and then try to get him around 5x$8. |

Good point, I didn't pay attention too much to that. I would expect they either bridge him right to the RFA date or go full 8 years. Adams seems fine giving out long deals to guys based on smaller sample sizes, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do the extension for both Dahlin and Power this offseason. Get them out of the way, know what you have moving forward, and lock up your core. I believe that is when they are allowed to sign is this summer, 1 year before being a free agent again.
I'm not in the KA is a top 5 GM crowd, but if he signs these guys for reasonable deals like he did with Thompson, Cozens, and Samuelson I will sing his praises for sure. |

7 million is Buffalo is at least 10 in NYC, SanJose, LA. We do get the ass end on taxes, but $7 million a year in Buffalo, NY makes you King Tut. |

Main thing would probably be the player thinking that one bad fall and you lose millions. Basically like a franchise tag in football. You make a lot of money fast but there's no guarantee. I don't believe there's anything to stop it in the CBA but am no expert by any means. |

Poyer already talking about wanting to play in a state that doesn't take away half of your money. You might get more bang for your buck but it definitely is a hindrance in signing. But c'est la vie |

There's no denying the state taxes. Depending on municipality the property taxes can be easy like mine in the city of Buffalo or outrageous like many of our suburbs. |

True and I imagine most GMs are a bit hesitant that they pay the boatload of money and the guy just goes and takes the best UFA deal out there anyway. But I guess if you don't get the long term deal locked up by TDL day you just retain 50% and move on. |

All 3 of those players are worth more than that 50mill contract.
Especially Tage and Dahl

Dahlin is $12 million per year on the open market. Everyone in the league knows how good he is. He's a large Adam Fox with a mean streak. Fox already has a (deserved) Norris for a season not as good as Dahlin's current season. |
