So the Devils didnt even officially trade the 2024 1st round pick, its a conditional 2nd round pick.
The conditions placed on the pick:
1. Meier must play atleast 50% of the games in 2023.
2. NJD must reach the ECF in 2023 or 2024
Then the pick becomes a top 10 protected 1st round pick in 2024. |

Burton hasn’t posted since Zib came back. He loves being so miserable that he’s probably upset the injury wasn’t bad - rangerdanger94
I am convinced now more than ever he is simply a Devils troll that hangs out in here amongst us and attempts to stir up trouble. |

Just seems crazy a player with over a full seasons worth of games under his belt can be waiver exempt |

Waiver exemptions are spelled out in section 13.4 of the NHL’s CBA and depend on the age a player signs their entry-level contract and their NHL games-played. Once they meet one of the listed exemption requirements, they’re waiver eligible.
For skaters, players are exempt for:
signed at 18: exempt for 5 years after signing or 160 NHL games
signed at 19: exempt for 4 years or 160 NHL games
signed at 20: exempt for 3 years or 160 NHL games
signed at 21: exempt for 3 years or 80 NHL games
signed at 22: exempt for 3 years or 70 NHL games
signed at 23: exempt for 3 years or 60 NHL games
signed at 24: exempt for 2 years or 60 NHL games |

I was watching the video over and over of Millers penalty.
What is surprising to me is how Doughty kept calm. I think if Miller and him were seriously jawing at each other, and then Miller spit at him, then he would have
( very understandably ) gone nuclear. However, that didn't happen.
I really don't understand how you can"accidentally" spit on another person who is literally standing right in front of you, however that may actually be what happened. |

Im hoping the NHL sees all this retention and cap circumvention to make trades. then has the sense to realize the cap as it is is not reasonable and rather than a 1m increase it goes up like 3m. |

That won’t happen. Maybe they’ll put a stop to all this cap nonsense. Maybe not. People sure are paying attention |

Does the cap number really matter ? Teams will spend to the cap ceiling and do the same poop every year at the TD. Need a break for players a team drafts and develop |

Nope, its a 2025 1st round pick. Tampa 2023 1st rounder went to Chicago in the Hagel trade. |

For all the Jeannot fans... would you have given up Zac Jones, 2025 1st, 2024 2nd and 3 more later picks? |
