Jeannot to Tampa

Another 2023 first rounder is traded. This draft is something else in the way of traded picks

- jimbro83

As much as I would have liked Jeannot, I can't justify trading a first round pick for a 4th liner. Now the argument can be made it will be a late first rounder, but still, he is a 4th line banger. Too much!

Edit: 2025 first rounder and 5 total draft picks for a 4th liner is simply too much!

For all the Jeannot fans... would you have given up Zac Jones, 2025 1st, 2024 2nd and 3 more later picks?

Late first rounder is still a first rounder for someone who will be a bottom 6 player, especially when you tack on Cal Foote and a 2nd round pick.

Tampa pushing all of their chips to the middle of the table on this one! Giving up 5 total draft picks leaves them with only a 6th Rd pick and two 7th Rd picks in the upcoming draft.
Jeannot will be an RFA in the off-season. As of now, Tampa will only have 14 players under contract for next season and only $3.1 mill in cap space to fill out the rest of their roster!
HOW ARE THEY GOING TO SIGN ANYBODY??

Tampa desperately needed a guy making only 800k this year and paid through nose for it

Cal Foote must not be worth much if all those picks had to be poured on

Since it doesn’t look like Lindgren is going on IR, rangers won’t be making any more moves after Kane

I didn’t see Barbashev get traded. I totally missed that one

I think what we’ll do is call up Cuyyle as the 13F for the playoffs. He should be the next man up for injuries. Hoping for that anyway. They’ll need some more beef around

While I agree it was a major risk to give up all that for Jeannot, his ES CF% this year is 48.16% with 45.12% O Zone starts.

It's amazing how every team in the East is gearing up for playoffs. Don't think I've seen such significant trades by every team so early. 4 teams will be very disappointed after 1st round losses.
