Everyone is saying the Blackhawks don't have leverage and won't get anything for Kane. Why not create leverage? Offer Kane a 4 year $9M extension for $36M right now. Kane doesn't want to leave Chicago. That automatically gives the Hawks leverage. The Rangers know he loves Chicago. The Rangers have lost 3 in a row in ugly fashion and just lost one of their top D-Men. Imagine the New York media getting a report that Chicago decided to keep Kane due to the Rangers low ball offer. It's a terrible look for look for them. The Rangers think they are getting him no matter what. Tell Kane to have surgery and get his hip fixed so you can lose a ton the rest of the year. Finish at the bottom for your best shot at the #1 pick. You sell some extra jersey's and give people and Chicago a reason to buy a ticket the next 4 years. You know Kane isn't getting that kind of contract offer from anybody else but it OK for the Hawks to overpay b/c it helps them get the the salary cap floor. Have him set every Hawks record known to man and give the young guys a player to look up to. He can wear 1 jersey the rest of his life. At least that's the story you tell the Rangers and even if Kane take the contract extension its good for the Hawks regardless simply as leverage.
- rockinpepper1

Good point, but if the hawks really wanted him I think they would have offered something by now.

Jimmy you know I’m pretty level headed when it comes to this team but am I crazy to say that maybe we overrated Tarasenko so much? I’ll take the fact that it takes time to mesh but I didn’t know he coasted so much coming back and that he was such a liability defensively.
- Awolff9

Known thing with him, some blues fans even came here and told us that when we got him. With that being said, if u think Tarasenko coasts back to his own zone, wait until u see Kane …….

I find this page pretty docile compared to others. We have a great writer and many opinions. What makes us different. I hate the name calling and personal insults on other pages. Some see the glass full, others glass empty. I’m ok with that.

I was kinda shocked that Zac Jones dressed for Woooooolfpack last night, but maybe it doesnt matter either way, he'd probably just join Chicago's AHL affiliate anyway so they'd want him playing

My understanding is that the Devils are among the teams still in it on Meier, but still work to be done and more talks scheduled for today... nothing done yet there

Watching the last few games would it make better sense to see Taffoli could be pried out of Calgary than to worry about the Kane drama.

A shoot 1st RW that can easily slide up and down the lineup .. Cup champion and proven playoff performer with 1 more yr @ 4.25 - then see about adding a simple play at home D man.

As someone who has lived and died with this team 24 hours a day 7 days a week since 1979, I tell you this is one of the craziest times I can remember. Lol.

How can you not fear totally crashing and burning? I get it.

But right before the deadline deals in 1994 they lost 7-3 to Chicago on a Friday night and never looked worse.

This is just fascinating poop right now

I was gonna say. I don't remember it personally but I have read about the '94 team being "listless" going into the TDL. Very similar situation right now.

It just doesn’t work anymore by going out and getting over the hill superstars and winning a cup. When teams add depth/character players they do better than spending all their 1st round picks on guys in their 30’s. With Tarasenko and Kane anything short of a cup will be considered a failure now. Most likely after the Kane trade, (3) 1st round picks will be gone between this year and last, not to mention other 2nd’s 3rd’s prospects etc. I’d rather have years of sustained success, which I think we could’ve had, over going all in for 3/4 years and be left holding the bag if it doesn’t pan out.

Have to, doesn’t mean I’ll be happy about it. I just don’t understand how Drury can think this is all a good idea. He’s turned valuable assets, whether by trading them at the wrong time, waiting to long etc, into garbage (Buch/Krav) and is now mortgaging the future in a year that I don’t think I’ve EVER seen the East this stacked. We’ve struggled against NJ (our most likely 1st round opponent) and then have CAR and possibly BOS to get through. Brutal playoffs this year in the East. Our prospect pool isn’t as deep as some would like to think, I actually think it’s pretty terrible.

I believe the Sharks are down to 2 teams in the Timo Meier trade talks and my sense is those 2 teams are New Jersey and Vegas. So, still work to be done. Obviously a fluid situation, but I think that's where things are at right now.

Most rentals dont equate to winning a cup so ill take the risk of having senko and kane for a cup run.
