Most rentals dont equate to winning a cup so ill take the risk of having senko and kane for a cup run.

At least let us see what happens. It’s predetermined that he will suck. It’s a Messier guarantee

people have such poor memories, I dont know, maybe its because they spend all the games looking at their phones instead of watching...

but, in first round vs Pittsburgh last year the Rangers lost game 3 by a score of 7-4, and lost game 4 by a score of 7-2, and played worse than they did in the Red Wings and Capital losses

I dont know how anyone who actually watched the playoffs last year can declare they already have no chance in the playoffs this year, on February 26th

It just doesn’t work anymore by going out and getting over the hill superstars and winning a cup. When teams add depth/character players they do better than spending all their 1st round picks on guys in their 30’s. With Tarasenko and Kane anything short of a cup will be considered a failure now. Most likely after the Kane trade, (3) 1st round picks will be gone between this year and last, not to mention other 2nd’s 3rd’s prospects etc. I’d rather have years of sustained success, which I think we could’ve had, over going all in for 3/4 years and be left holding the bag if it doesn’t pan out.

It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out with the chemistry after these moves. The East is stacked this year. I was shocked the Islanders made the Bo move. Felt the move was two years too late. Some of these Ranger moves seem too soon. Risky moves for sure.

Everyone is saying the Blackhawks don't have leverage and won't get anything for Kane. Why not create leverage? Offer Kane a 4 year $9M extension for $36M right now. Kane doesn't want to leave Chicago. That automatically gives the Hawks leverage. The Rangers know he loves Chicago. The Rangers have lost 3 in a row in ugly fashion and just lost one of their top D-Men. Imagine the New York media getting a report that Chicago decided to keep Kane due to the Rangers low ball offer. It's a terrible look for look for them. The Rangers think they are getting him no matter what. Tell Kane to have surgery and get his hip fixed so you can lose a ton the rest of the year. Finish at the bottom for your best shot at the #1 pick. You sell some extra jersey's and give people and Chicago a reason to buy a ticket the next 4 years. You know Kane isn't getting that kind of contract offer from anybody else but it OK for the Hawks to overpay b/c it helps them get the the salary cap floor. Have him set every Hawks record known to man and give the young guys a player to look up to. He can wear 1 jersey the rest of his life. At least that's the story you tell the Rangers and even if Kane take the contract extension its good for the Hawks regardless simply as leverage.

Patrick Kane doesn't want to be a part of a team that is tanking and wouldn't sign that extension. He wants OUT of CHICAGO, hence NO LEVERAGE.

If that’s the case who says Chicago has to trade him? They can tell him to (frank) off and just hold onto him if you don’t give them what they want. I’m not saying this is what’s going on but this talk of Chicago not having leverage is pretty dumb. They have all the leverage in the world.

Hey man, if we win the cup I won’t have a choice but to admit I was wrong. I just see a FLA situation, trading multiple 1sts, 2nds, prospects etc, getting bounced in the 2nd round and now what.

The trade is done. I don’t know why people still have conservations that it might happen. Lol. It’s done.

He is an UFA at the end of the season. They will lose him for absolutely NOTHING, and he has all the power because he can contractually dictate what team he goes to. Again, no leverage for Chicago...

I was gonna say. I don't remember it personally but I have read about the '94 team being "listless" going into the TDL. Very similar situation right now.

Remember very well. That trade deadline probably was one of the craziest made for tv shows.

What I remember most is how hard it was to find out what was going on. WFAN was the only place then to find out anything and they had a Mets spring training game on. And then initially word was that they did nothing. Then mike and the mad dog came on and said they did major moves but didn’t say what it was yet. And then it was just wild finding out the names.

Hard to when I agree with a lot of points made. But, and this is the key, just because I or others may not agree with the method, that doesn't mean we don't want them to win or be proven wrong. We are dissenting views on roster construction and use of asset management. Thinking Drury hasn't done a good job and hoping he is proven right are not mutually exclusive terms.

I remember the cover of the NY Post the next day: it was a wheel and showed who was in/out of the roster. It was a cool visual and very memorable!

Plus the deadline then was close to the end of the season, so integrating six new parts was not easy in a short span or time.

I believe the Sharks are down to 2 teams in the Timo Meier trade talks and my sense is those 2 teams are New Jersey and Vegas. So, still work to be done. Obviously a fluid situation, but I think that's where things are at right now.

Kane would actually be a pretty good fit in Carolina. Obviously he’s in control of his destiny but wonder if they make a late push for him now that they’re (supposedly) out on Meier. As many have said, Lafferty seems like the better fit for NYR right now as they desperately need to get harder to play against. Add a LH dman and let’s see what happens. None of this seems likely of course.

I think it’s just as simple as the acquisition of a Kane is done they just can’t do it until Wednesday when the cap works

The only new wrinkle is that Lindgren may go on LTIR which could enable it to happen sooner.

I really think the recent loosing streak isn’t as bad as people say.

They had an amazing run on the west coast… come back games, strong character. Loss to Calgary sucked but still showed character in coming back.

Then lost to Winnipeg with 51 shots on net. That’s unreal.

After that, then the Kane situation happened and the team playing with 11 forwards. I’m confident that once this resolves, they will be just fine. With or without Kane.

I’m not worried about the losses these past 4 games to be honest. Happens throughout every season to every team. I’m more worried about not being physical enough come playoff time. Kreider used to be a physical player, that’s all but gone from his game now which is weird. The top 9 will literally have no one, maybe Trocheck? that plays physical and I don’t think that’s a recipe for success come playoff time.
