I’m curious if these sorts of things were around when they played together. It’s was quite awhile ago - Slimtj100
28 year old Patrick Kane was quite a lot faster than 34 year old Patrick Kane.
But to answer your question yeah, Kane's always been like this, it just wasn't as pronounced when he was younger as he'd use his quickness to create the occasional turnover. He doesn't do that anymore, really. |

Yes.
Because he's 34 years old and has been one dimensional for years, but now his scoring doesn't outpace the chances he gives up anymore.
I can't speak to other teams but I can say the Canes consistently attack his side of the ice. He virtually never makes it below his own blue line.
Saw a lot of him in that 2020-2021 short season. Dude is just never a threat unless you're turning the puck over and giving him a quick break. He doesn't break the puck out himself. He doesn't backcheck. You can pretty much just ignore him if he doesn't have the puck on his stick. - BINGO!
There isn’t a chance in hell if Carolina were to acquire Patrick Kane you’d spin it this negatively

I actually think he’s pretty spot on about him coming back to defend and win battles along the board. |

what worries me as an opponent facing the Rangers with Kane and Tarasenko is that they'll have the ability to score on nearly any shift if they get the puck in your end.
What makes me feel more confident against them though is that it becomes even easier to hem them in their own end for long stretches. Those guys aren't coming down the wall to win puck battles. - BINGO!
It’s been analyzing something we haven’t even seen yet is what has driven me crazy. I think the previous chemistry they had isn’t even taken account and how good they actually were together. Granted they’re older but that may be good and they’ll be even more savvy. I trust that then some stupid chart 🤷🏻♂️
They’ll probably play with Trocheck as the defensive mind in the line |

Yes I would. I don't like what he currently is and I don't like the fit on the Rangers, a team that already acquired a better version of him in Tarasenko.
Teams can absorb having a guy like him around, but you have to understand that if you're giving him top 6 minutes you're going to get burned more often than he's going to help you. If you can insulate him further down the lineup and then use him to load up when desperate for a goal, that can work. |

Tony is basically the defenseman version of what Kane is these days.
You can play him in a depth role and a PP specialist and come out just fine.
You play him top 6 minutes at 5-on-5 and you're gonna get burned.
Doesn't mean he's not talented. Doesn't mean he's not good. You just have to make sure you treat him as what he is and not what you want him to be. |

The one negative ill come up with getting Kane is, Tarasenko. And how he feels about it. They just brought him in and now after all this hoopla with Kane he hasn’t looked great. Idk he must be like wtf. Hope he figures it out, I could totally see him hit the 4th line at some point and pissing off GG
But anyway, I’ve killed the idea of Kane finally!! Yay me |

For what he was I had zero problems with him. I thought his defensive woes were overrated to be honest, although I did notice them when we played CAR in the playoffs, thought he was terrible. Liked the toughness/sticking up for teammates part of him. Losing him for absolutely nothing is yet another blunder on the part of the Rangers org.
We’ve turned TonyD, a 9th overall pick, and 7th overall pick into a 2nd round pick and 7th round pick with an AHL player. Absolutely brutal asset management on the part of the Rangers. |

Do you think if Kane opened it up and was willing to be traded to any team other than the Rangers, the Rangers would still be the only suitor? |

Not at all, every team with playoff aspirations would be kicking tires on Kane. |

But what about him having the worst analytics of any forward in the nhl the last 3 seasons? |

Miraculously they’ve gotten through it I guess
So no credit the 7th overall, Lias I assume, for the Cuylle pick? You guys can’t have it both ways |

Here’s my take on Kane and the reason I don’t think he’s a good fit for the Rangers. U can have a player that plays like that on ur team, sure. But we now have 3 players like that in the top 6 (Panarin Kane Tarasenko) That isn’t a recipe for success come playoff time. Like I said, u can have 1, MAYBE 2, guys that play a lazy defensive game, but not 3 in the top 6. |
