There's a huge percentage of Leaf fans who think we need a couple of face punchers - because it was pretty f'n cool when we drafted Wendel Clark - thirty eight years ago!
This isn't a fan base that just ignores the past.
That said, you are right - in the correct role, Schenn is an effective player. Not dragging this bit out - but I do wonder if his lack of footspeed would work in Keefe's system which is more neutral-zone aggressive and tries to employ a full offensive zone cycle. - Monkeypunk

I always get a laugh when a certain group of fans talk about how the game is changing, yet the game has been changing all the time.
I remember at WJC when some of the media like Craig Button were talking about how scouts are now going back to emphasizing on bigger players that can skate and have some physical attributes.

Demko is an elite goalie on a good contract with 3 years left. We’re not going to give him away for a 2nd rd pick. Good goalies are extremely rare to be available for trade. Can’t even think of the last time a good starting goalie was traded.

I like Demko, but the only thing this organization seems to be able to do right is develop goalies.

I have concerns with this management group, being able to recognize that this group isn't a very good mix of players.
They got sucked in Last season and figured that changing up the bottom 6 was all that was needed, so we shall see if they get sucked in again, because they have played a bit better of late.

And I don’t think it will ever happen either. Because Rutherford will not trade a core piece within the division for anything cheap.
He might trade a 4th liner or 6/7 D within the division but not a goalie that’ll hurt him for the next 10 years.
I honestly don’t think any team in our division not named Edmonton would have the assets to make Rutherford do it.

With most of the big names already traded, it now falls into the category of players with term. Hopefully teams are looking at Boeser, Miller and Demko. I was going to mention 2 other Canucks, but that can be saved until next year.
