As Cody points out, the Canucks are a dog chasing its tail at this point. They keep spending draft capital and failing to make progress. - manvanfan
Premature. Wait til next season & when all the dust settles. Lastly grouping in JB moves is pathetic |

Unless they are willing to completely rebuild through the draft, which was never going to be the case with Pettersson & Hughes on the roster, these types of moves are expected. They said they were going to do this type of move, and they have. - LeftCoaster
Mixed messages actually. They said they were not going to trade away first round picks anymore but did just that.... for a 2nd pairing Dman at that.

Just doing the Bo tree.
Funny how fast fans criticize knowing full well young RHD are rare to get. Drafting them isn’t easy & risk comes with it let alone the years to develop.
What will Fabbro fetch or is the ask?
He’s been a big disappointment. - Nighthawk
Yes there’s a 90% chance that second flops and becomes a bust especially with Vancouver’s scouting. I’d rather have a proven NHL D man that’ll be in his prime when the rest of this team is ready to compete 3-5 years down the road.
You’d have to be retarded to hope that you’re going to get a gem D-man that’s developed into top 4, with the 20th overall.
In fact I challenge any fan here to name a pick taken 20-32th overall by the Canucks that became a stud D man by time they were 23 in the last 20 years. |

Trade alert! The #Sens have acquired defenceman Jakob Chychrun from @ArizonaCoyotes in exchange for a conditional first-round draft pick in ’23, a conditional second-round selection in ’24 (previously acquired from @Capitals) and a second-round pick in ’26. 1/2

Chychrun for a 1st & 2-2nds
Yotes caved on the ask but he’s never stayed healthy either.
Lots for a LHD but a good move for the Sens. |

#Canucks get their coveted RHD in Hronek. But at quite a price. 25-year-old with 39 points in 60 games
Hronek has logged 21:32 a game for Wings this season. Averages 1:37/game on PK which is a massive need for #Canucks. But that was fourth on Wings defence so not a top pair PK guy in Detroit. Had PP2 role on Wings, too, with 16 PP points |

The highest potential value in the Horvat deal was the unprotected NYI pick in 24'. Vancouver has now wasted that - manvanfan
Well we did get out of paying Bo 8X8.5 lol |

Edler....... arguably a top 2 Dman in prime. I am on the same page as you though... Hronek will almost for sure be better then any pic we make in the 20+ range... 14th or 15th though there could be arguments made.

Hronek is a great add and we need the Right hand shot desperately. But still, alot to give up. Have to think that Allvin will try to recoup this picks back with a few more deals. |

That was 29 years ago he was drafted, friend… and higher than 20th-32nd. |

Now that Chychrun is gone, perhaps Pittsburgh turns their attention back to Miller or Boeser since they lost out on their D man.
I have to think we will see some additional moves in the next 2 days |

Exactly, what was the point of getting a 1st round pick, just to trade it away? If they manage to get more 1sts and 2nds then ok, maybe this deal isn't so bad |

Our break out just got much better. Myers & his pathetic break outs just got better with his less TOI. |

Yes, I’m just not high on any of the D available this year. To me it’s high-Risk and Joulevi has me shying away from that. I think any of the D that I’ve seen ranked in the first round are just best of a bad situation. I might risk a 2nd, but definitely not a first rd with them. Nobody remembers when your 2nd rd’r isn’t successful… |

Perhaps they’re planning on some of their good young defencemen they’ve drafted making the roster next year. There’s three or four good young players ready to step in. That’s what good drafting does for you.
Funny, Yzerman wasn’t afraid to rebuild through the draft even though they had a young’ish Dylan Larkin on the roster. Different mindset. Now the Wings have a better team, a better prospect pool and a brighter immediate future IMO. |

I feel that at least one, but probably 2 of Boeser/Garland/Miller won’t be with us for saturdays game. I hope we get a 2nd and 1st but would take 2-2nds if need be. |

They are not trading Miller. They invested in him to win now and won't be leaving a massive hole down the middle... and the moves they are making continue to follow that direction. I'm sure they listened to some calls but teams are probably looking for Van to accommodate a dump deal seeing their unintentional tank is screaming not ready to compete.
Boeser isnt going to bring in anything substantial. Probably lose another pick in any move involving him actually.
This 2nd round in the draft has lots of potential for Dmen. Going into the draft once again without a 2nd. |
