I rather analyze individual drafts than sampling them in a large group.

This draft is very heavy on high end F’s in the 1st with D being a smattering in the 1st but gets pretty good in the 2nd & later.

And just about every analyst has said that this is a strong draft. So that pick has even more value than normal years. So Canucks paid extra then.

We should’ve expected this type of deal when Canucks upper management talked about retooling and being competitive within two years.

There was just a lot of people hoping that retool talk was a smokescreen for actually doing a rebuild.

This is a retool. Just as we were told.

You can be as optimistic as you want but you can't fail to see that where the team is right now, adding a single RHD isn't moving the needle. Making another deal or two isn't moving the needle. There are no prospects coming up that are going to move the needle. They don't have the cap space to move the needle.

Cannot argue those points but I will add I expect more of the roster with much room for growth & improved team D. Any trades also will add to more growth. Still we are 2 years or more away of starting to make real noise. 2024/25 it begins

Lol been watching commentary on the Hronek trade. They said it would be an awful trade for the Canucks as he makes this teams D waaaaay better. That would be an awful trade if Vancouver was rebuilding, but re-signing Kuzmenko should have been a signal to all Canucks fans that they’re looking for a quick fix as Kuzmenko on an expiring deal would have fetched a king’s ransom as a rental.
Dude said that if this was the price on Hronek from a contender, then it would have been an absolute steal.

Regardless I don’t think we’re a playoff team for at least another 3-5 years, most likely 7-10 and it probably would have been 10 minimum if we went full rebuild, as we have no impact prospects right now.

No one knows how high this pick will be yet. Does your opinion change in it's top 15 or unprotected next season? They should have waited until summer to make this kind of move...

Maybe not impact prospects but we don’t need top 6. We have good wing depth but need a 3C.

System does have a decent prospects ready to help soon in role situations. In goal we look solid for years.

This draft & next needs elite talent.

Agreed! Boeser and Myers need to go. Boeser’s speed isn’t even NHL worthy anymore. So hopefully we can get something for him before other teams figure this out.
