he's a reclamation project, up to him to show he is worth another contract (RFA with arbitration this summer, qualification offer is 3.1M). He has the tools to be a good player but showed no consistency the past 2 years. Cost nothing in terms of assets, worth the shot. Expectations should be low but at this point it is worth the shot. Let's hope MSTL can inject some passion into his game.

new coach, new system, new linemates, new situation...odds are low but maybe a change of scenery will do him some good.

needed to take a contract back anyway, might as well be with someone with potential then someone about to retire and a 7th round pick
