Jets are looking good in 2025-26. Have the 2023 first rounder, McGoarty, Lambert, Luscius, Salomonsson, Rashevsky, Chibrikov maybe even Heinola (if he doesn't ask for a trade first) to go along with Perfetti, Morrissey, Conner and "the franchise" Adam Lowry
Who cares about the present where you got 2 nearly a PPG centers and a Vezina caliber goaltender. It's the future Jets fans should be looking forward to. |

Chevy was an almost complete failure on this trade deadline. I don't mind NN but was expecting him to make some move to clear a liability of two and get some better replacements. An upgrade at RW and a top-four D. Get rid of Pionk for sure. Maybe Apples and a prospect and away we go.
Trade Deadline Grade is a D-minus. |

Despite the fact that Chevy gets a D-minus for his deadline trades I am always trying to find the positives in life so let us be optimistic and look at what the lineup might look like IF the Jets make the playoffs and have full health. Line combos are just a rough guess.
Connor-Scheifele-Perfetti
Ehlers-Dubios-Niederreiter
Barron-Lowry- Wheeler
Maenalanen-Stenlund -Appleton
Nameisti-cough-cough-cough (can be inserted anywhere) , Gustafsson
Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Pionk
Samberg-Schmidt
Stanley
Hellebuyck
Rittich
Is this lineup good enough to go anywhere in the playoffs ? On paper it looks good. In a game, its been touch and go. We do miss Perfetti but he might be back in time for the playoffs. |

Perfetti will get pummled in the playoffs. 3rd like and some PP time for him.
He’s easy to get the puck from now, wait until the intensity is cranked up |

Definitely looking that way !.... but as a glass-half-full guy ( and still a diehard Jets fan) I'll hold my nose and hope they at least get to the dance ....before getting decimated by the AVS.

Lowry now goalless in 34 games.
Has he had his ice time reduced or been a healthy scratch ? Why not? |

Wpg currently at #14 in the NHL standing and in freefall (and falling like a fat man w/o a parachute).... but lets say they continue on this current path and wind up picking 11 to 17 ish....
We have to start looking to the future as who is the best 1st round pick as there is really not much else to watch right now, so who do they pick? (As I can't bear to watch anymore games, especially when there is a new episode of Ancients Aliens competing for the same timeslot)
I copied and pasted the current 2023 rankings as per sports net:
11. David Reinbacher, D, Kloten (Switzerland): Possesses all the tools to project as a top three defenceman at the next level.
12. Dalibor Dvorsky, C, AIK (Allsvenskan): As projections of an elite producer have cooled, his overall 200-foot game has improved enough to have him still sitting comfortably in the top half of this draft class.
13. Samuel Honzek, LW, Vancouver Giants (WHL): May be the sleeper who upsets the top 10 by the time we get to June.
14. Nate Danielson, C, Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL): Supremely responsible player who thrives on match-ups on the defensive side, but not at the expense of skill on the other side.
15. Axel Sandin-Pellikka, D, Skelleftea AK (Sweden Jr.): A fluid skater who processes the game well and can adjust on the fly. Will see some PP time at the next level.
16. Oliver Moore, C, USNTDP: His blazing speed makes him a threat off the rush and his ability to handle the puck at high speed also makes him a one-on-one threat.
17. Gabriel Perreault, RW, USNTDP: Similar to Benson in size, smarts and the ability to drive play all over the ice.
So, might as well start to assess the draft rankings for entertainment.
I can hear the TSN pundits now, whoever Chevy picks, "Chevy did a great job with this years draft" (For the sake of example) "David Reinbacher, D," is a great pick and Chevy and their scouts did just a wonderful job picking him"
And reality is, he was ranked #11 and its was Wpg turn to pick, so he picked him. WTF is so great about that? Draft whisperer my a$$
But, where in lies the best pick around 11 to 17, taking into account the freefall lands them somewhere in 11 to 17?
Cheers! |

Good post Flopper. My quick take would be the first D-man, 11. David Reinbacher, based on our needs down the road around the time he might start making the lineup in 2025 or 2026. By then out top D will still be Morrissey but most of our next five might all be gone on expiring contracts. So any of the next guys in line, Samberg, Stanley , Heinola , and maybe Elias Salomonsson might be in the top four. Jets will need more help on D.
As I said in earlier posts . Only one team wins the Cup and there will likely be a lot of fans in various contenders cities who will be taking the double hit of not winning the Cup but also watching the draft with a lot less picks to make.
Chevy still gets a D-minus though for this T-deadline. |

Reinbacher would be my pick if available.
Should try to trade PLD to Montreal for Florida's 1st which they got for Chiarot, would try to get some more stuff other then just that 1st though. |

probably to early for this but lets look at next year;
I think we all know PLD is gone, and gone to Montreal, a realistic trade would be Florida's first rounder, Beck and for cap purposes the Habs will make us take Dvorak.
I think the Jets will try very hard to extend Shief and Helle, probably over paying both but they will try to keep both. if they cant, they have to be moved!!!
Wheeler, I'm sorry, thank you for all the great years, but the time has come, if he can not be traded he needs to be bought out. no question.
what to do with our D??? I dont think Scmidt can be traded, not good enough and to much money, I think Dillon is worth keeping as he would be worth 2-3 times more at next years deadline than this summer. so that leaves Pionk, I honestly believe he has perceived value around the league because he is right shot, puts up some points and shoots right, so Pionk can and should be traded this summer.
time to trade Stanley, id give to the first team who offers a 2nd but id also take a 3rd. I'm not trading Heinola because hes the best D in the AHL and younger than stan.
Apples is useless and over paid, id trade him as well if we could
Kulman, Saku, Stenlund can all go.
what id like the team to add is some nastiness with talent ( Konecny ) type up front
line up
Connor-Shief- Lambert
Ehlers - Perfetti - Nino
Barron-Dvorak-Apples
Gus-Lowry-Harkins
morrisey-Demelo
Dillon-Heinola
Samberg-Scmidt
i think Pionk could bring back a serviceable Forward!!
