Apparently collecting all the AHL lifers. - Elbows15
And yet… Luke Richardson and the rest of the coaching staff will have this motley crew hanging in more games than they have any business being in. And I am all HERE for that. |

Could be the same, it’s not going to be pretty. Let’s hope the young defensemen play better defense than C Jones, Johnson, and Tinordi, that would help. - Angotti Its scary to think they will be even worse next season.
The only guys who will sign here are those who have no other choice.

Luke should win the Adams for getting this motley bunch to over 20 wins. |

This is by far the worse group of players to ever suit up for the Hawks in my lifetime. I have seen bad teams but there were always a couple of players who could be all-stars aaside from the required one from every team kind.
There are maybe 5 legit NHL players on this team |

Just perfect for the tank. And who knows perhaps he gets another hit or two like Lafferty.

We had a 60 some year Stanley Cup drought so maybe this is the better way to rebuild.
Earlier you brought up how we reached on players, aren't those same people saying that our farm system has drastically improved in one year?

Look at the 2003/04 roster. This version might be worse, but it’s close. |

Almost 25 million in cap space. Can KD pick up more draft capital? Could be a interesting few more days. |

It was 49 years. I believe that was one person's opinion. There are no studs in the pool, tho.

Pick up pond hockey. I feel like I am at Waveland on a Saturday morning. (is the Park District still flooding the Waveland ball fields near the lake front). |

I was just looking at those rosters too - but there’s no comparable to Zhamnov or Sullivan or some other decent players back then on this team now. So, I don’t know about lifetime - but this is easily the worst team in over 20 years.

No doubt it’s a terrible team, very few are arguing otherwise. I’m not at all surprised, the team completely mortgaged their future trying to win more championships. And I’d argue this was beginning before the 2015 cup win. In 2016 the team was a collection of 7 or 8 core players with dwindling depth, almost no prospects, lost draft picks and they still tried to make moves to win. In hindsight Bowman should have begun moving the core players and started to retool, if not a full on rebuild. He didn’t and here we are. Incidentally Tampa and Toronto are making similar moves and could very well be in this predicament in three to five years.
I’m hopeful that the Hawks can draft well with the stockpile of draft picks or trade some of those picks for prospects. With the huge amount of cap space they can look at free agents or sign a top end RFA which another team can’t afford.
Let’s give KD a couple of years and see what he can do. I the brought in a good coach who seems to get allot out of his players. Hopefully KD has learned about making panic signings, too much term, too many NMCs, etc. and also learns to make moves based on what’s best for the team before his star players are on the downside of their careers. |

If KD does that I think it will happen at the draft. |

When Toews is gone considered the bandage torn off. This was a long time coming. I'm unsure of recent picks & picks to come. It's going to get uglier. Just looking for bright spots. & number 1 picks |

He won’t have to, just stays on IR all year. |

I’ll say this. Tyler Johnson is a real pro. Playing his heart out even though the team is horrible. He could just mail it in. Classy. |

In 2016 they were either 3 or 4th in the league and the Blues were 2 spots behind them. They had by far the toughest 1st round match-up and it was a series that could have gone either way. So trying to add for 2017 wasn't completely out of the park. They did lead the WC that year but some chinks were starting to show and then they just didn't have the depth to beat the trap that Lavy loves anymore.
Look around the league. |

One silver lining of this awful season: St. Louis and Nashville tearing it down. Shipping out RoR, Tarasenko, Ekholm… god it feels good.
Enduring the noob fans in the 2017 SMASHville time will hold a special hate filled space in my heart for that pitiful franchise. Watching them die off is truly a treat. |
