I count 7 trades KD has made since July. He is not sitting on his hands; he is doing what he said he would do. Kane would make 8. |

My final prediction for the Kane trade is....
Rangers receive Kane @ 50% retained (25% from both the Hawks and Coyotes), and a 2024 5th Round Pick from the Hawks.
Hawks receive Jimmy Vesey, Bobby Trivigno, a conditional 2023 2nd Round Pick (Becomes a 2024 1st if Rangers win the cup), and 2025 4th Round Pick all from the Rangers.
Coyotes retain the other 25% of Kane's contract and receive a 2024 5th Round Pick from NYR as compensation. - chitownfan92
I think you're probably very close, but I don't think Chicago has any use for a 5'8"/161 lb 24 yr old undrafted Trivigno so I would plug in another mid/late pick in a future draft. And the 2nd becomes a 1st if NYR makes it to the finals OR resigns Kane. |

I had a similar feeling as Zach, Why even trade Kane if all you're going to get is a 2nd? But then I thought, getting rid of Kane helps us in the tank, which is massively important right now with them winning 5 in a row.
Also, a low return signifies to me that Kane does not have an extension deal in place. I don't think Rangers would have the cap space to give him an extension. This keeps open the pipe dream that he would want to return to the Hawks. He is clearly picky about where he is willing to play. |

The Rangers are acquiring Patrick Kane for a 2023 conditional second pick and 2023 fourth-round pick.
Per sources, the conditions of second round pick: turns into a first IF the Rangers make the Conference Finals. However that first round pick would be in either 2024 or 2025. |

Well that's easy. Cheer for the Leafs to beat the Bolts, Rangers to beat the Devils and Leafs. |

Enter draft choice if they get to Conference final. Perhaps greatest satisfaction if they get to Conference final THEN loose |

Kane’s final gift to us will be a trip to the conference finals, book it.
I don’t know how anyone can be upset with Kane, the reason it was hard for him is because he loves Chicago, whatever, this guy has earned it. He’s my all time favorite player without a doubt. Not only does he have the hall of fame accolades, but night in and night out, he was such an entertaining player to watch. I’m actually more emotional than I expected to be, truly the end of an era.
I’ll be a rangers fan for the rest of the year supporting 88. |

Nah we want them to go to the conference finals.
That way it becomes a 1st in 2024. |

So the Hawks end up with either 4 second round picks in 2023 or three 1st round picks in 2024 or 2025.
More would have been nice but, the Rangers kinda blew their load on Tarasenko.

A gift would have been to make up his mind a few weeks ago so we could have gotten a decent return, instead of the blues getting more for a player who won't show up in the playoffs and is meh imo. not only does it screw us it helps the hated blues. |

Ok so as we speak (prior to Friday), KD has 6 picks in the top-60 to work with in this draft. |

Maybe one more if Domi is moved.
Also, with multiple possibly high seconds, I can see moving up in the draft into the first round by trading them for taking on higher contracts like we did with Mrazek. |

A good thought given how many draft picks are coming. Maybe KD liked the 4th because it was a 2023 and the draft is considered deep.
Will be interesting to see if there is a new stage now of acquiring prospects instead of picks. There are 20 or so contracts expiring this summer and it looks like only a few will be retained - Rockford may be a little short on actual prospects next year and maybe in 2025 also. That would argue for getting a prospect right now (like Korczak or a prospect currently at Hartford) instead of the 4th.

I am seeing an issue with the report. The Rangers don't have a 2023 4th. They traded it for Motte per capfriendly
I will take Cuylle instead... |
