Patience is needed, but fairly or unfairly, expectations are raised when the player is signed to a 7 year $30M extension after he's only played 54 NHL games. - kingcong39
Going to be a steal down the road.
This season he should be measured against his rookie contract...about $140,000 per month

Sabres desperately need another top 4 Dman. They really need to explore that in the off-season. Even when Johnson signs they still need to get atleast 3 to 5 D in there system be it by draft or using some of the on hand assets. Yes goalie is a big ? but are Defense is really bad. - Buff36
The defense corps can still use an upgrade, but they get absolutely zero help from the forward group. To a man, they all stink on the wrong side of center ice, Tage Thompson's line included. Now, I think Granato knows this, which is why he runs the system he does, and I think it has resulted in a net positive in the win column, but there's only so much a defense corps can do when your forwards don't play defense at all. For the most part, it leads to entertaining hockey, so I'm good with it.

Bruins had 65% Scoring Chances with him on the ice.
That is not sustainable.
He is another Risto...hits that take him out of the play. Fun to watch from a physicality point, but defensively a mess.
Boss will LOVE him. - IonSabres
depends how you want to cut it. His corsi and fenwicks were even. High danger against was about 62%. We kinda know what he is, but judging him alone for his first game on this team against that goliath of a team.. i'll wait for the year end sample.

He displayed other Ristolainen like tendencies last night, such as often dumping the puck out of the zone to nobody in particular, and icing it for no reason.

Exactly, this team is built to boat race teams right now. It's either phenomenal to watch or abysmal.

Sure the Forwards can help more, the Sabres get eaten alive below the Dot and behind there net. Sure it would help having your forwards crash down a bit. But your D can't be getting caught on the same side or both chasing behind the net.
what are we learning about the sabres? They are a very weak team emotionally and a team that is unwilling to put in a solid effort on a game to game basis.... This team is going nowhere people... they have peaked and are headed back down the mountain... - rapperray
Heard this like 6 times this season. They keep on climbing back.
