Dahlin is the only one getting elite money. Say he get $10 million per. Hell it could be more.
Chicken at 7-8 Power at 6 on a bridge and Samuelson at 4.
Having that good of a top 4 d making $28 million total. With how much those 4 would play that’s worth it to me. Especially having value contract of Tage and if Cozens keeps going… - Stripes77

Mitts was awful until this year. - drafted in 2017
Half the fan base wanted Dahlin gone last year - drafted 2018
Dylan Cozens - 2019
Also having 1OA picks helps.
The Sabres won’t have that. There is probably of 90% chance that the Sabres pick in this draft will be 3 years away.
Thompson was picked in 2016 took him m 6 years. - ImThatGuy
Dahlin had one of the best teenage seasons by a d-man in NHL history, also 80% of this fanbase is brain dead
Cozens was good last year but the points weren’t there because he didn’t get PP1 minutes and his line mates for half the season were Vinny and Drake Cagguila ffs.
Quinn has had good underlyings all year and the points are starting to come for him. Peterka has struggled but I see him being productive middle 6 forward next year.
This whole narrative that we need to wait 5 years is just hyperbole |

Adams is searching for a goalie today
And we had an offer for chicken man. Coyotes went with the sens. So 2nd place sort of - Sabretooth9
I have no inside information and do not pretend to, but I have no doubt that they put forth a trade offer. I would really like to know what it was, even if names are left out if there are current players involved. Just give positions. How far different was the Sabres trade from the Ottawa trade proposal that worked is what I wonder. What made them make a move with Ottawa in what seems like a weak trade in comparison to what they were originally looking for? Mostly out of curiosity but also as a measure of how sincere this management team is to try to win in a year where they were in a playoff position less than a week ago. It is also a measure of how other teams see the Sabres management team if the pieces of the Sabre offer equal or exceed the winning bid.

I wouldn't say all of those players excelled early in their careers. Plus other than JJ those are all top 10 talents, their timelines are sometimes different. Where the Sabres are picking the next few seasons I don't expect many of them to be up right away or even in a year. And I don't expect many of them to contribute on a consistent basis for a few years, especially if they're defensemen. - Zschalberg

That's fine, the point stands just for this year. They won't likely be picking top 10 |

Start looking at bottom feeder teams to teams that probably aren’t making it. Is there anyone left you’d want at defence or forward? I still like Crouse. Do u think there’s anyone in that group of teams that you would like to get, but surprised if a team was willing to trade him? |

A) They could have resigned Chychrun but then you’d have half a d-corps making elite money and I don’t think there is a precedent for that
B) I highly doubt they would trade Chychrun in the middle of a playoff run either.
Like I said, I see the logic of both doing the trade and not doing the trade.
At the end of the day, Adams is putting more emphasis on the next 12 months to get it right cause he is out of excuses to not make the playoffs next year at the very least - Swedish_Jesus
The Caps just traded a top 4, arguably top pair, D man in the middle of a playoff push. And Ovi's only got a few more years left in him. The Caps need to make a run every year for the next few. |

I was just thinking that too. He’s a total wild card. Maybe he’s a PTPer cause he was incredible for Flyers in playoffs. It’s like they’d trade 6K to get him and then 6K would be awesome for them. 6K does have ability to make big time saves. He’s done it. It does seem like the team plays better in front him. They might think they haveta. |

The peak age of a first round pick forward would be 4-5 years after they’re drafted. |

The Capitals waived the white flag on their season.
I would hope the Sabres aren’t moving players for picks come 2025 because they are doing another retool on the fly |

Don’t need them to be at their peak to be useful contributors in a playoff race.
Quinn has 4 points in his last 2 games. Has he not been a positive for the team ? He isn’t nowhere near his peak
Is Power near his peak ? He’s definitely helping the team win hockey games today though |

The teams goal wasn’t playoffs this year
The years goal was to see how far the new “core” can get us.
The next goal was that the kids show growth and development
Both have happened.
This team still has holes. We know it and they know it. Sam Ventura sure as hell knows it. |

Good points but does not answer the question(s) I raised. Though they are not questions that I would expect a fan could answer.

Trade for someone we could’ve got free? Wtf. Then add insult to injury Kevin couldn’t best the offer from Ottawa for chychrun? Phook the here’s our candy philosophy of building within. Once again the Sens beat us to all the good stuff. |

Who gives a sh¡t what the plan in September was? They're ahead of where they thought they'd be. You have to be flexible and adjust on the fly. Which Adams, to this point, seems either unwilling or unable to do. Both of which are fireable offenses. |

I just personally didnt like the chickenrun injury history.
I like temo and he would have been a serious upgrade to olo or whomever.
Management isnt gonna bring in an outsider and pay them 8.5-9 million to play wing.
I'm sure pegula regrets the skinner deal time to time.
Way too many in house deals to work on, and we are still a budget team unfortunately.
I could still see a crouse move. Something like that? - Boss34
Plus, I would hesitate to bring in a family friend of the owner/Big Fan Boy Terry. That could f up the room real quick. Not worth the risk. Other good d will come and we will be there ready. |

Which is why the CHIQUORIN move was so necessary IMO.
You are now planning on handing critical spots (Levi, Johnson) to players who you hope can handle it right away.
Not to mention being this risk averse can be a dagger to a franchise.
How many times have we penciled in prospects dating back to Guhle, Bailey and Baptiste and mancari etc only to have them fall short.
I hope Adams proves us wrong and pulls a unicorn trade out of his ass. - ImThatGuy
Not @you but I swear this whole fanbase just loves guys with dumb names so they can keep repeating them over and over til it isn’t funny anymore.
Chiqiurin, Bjugstad, Ollie (ugly and dumb name), smahlik etc.
There are other players that are good and desirable that have normal names that are easily spelt for Christ sakes!

Also, it’s hilarious to me to keep saying he has “a plan”. Like not every single GM in the history of sports doesn’t have a “plan” when they’re hired.
He should’ve adjusted this master plan when Thompson looked like an MVP and Dahlin looked like a Norris candidate |
