My fear is the East just got 1/2 of the Wests good players. All of our competition for a playoff spot got a major upgrade. Chychrun didn’t have a clause and went for way less than sticker price.
East is stacked now. It will be an even bigger challenge to make the playoffs this and next year.
It could be mid 90’s to get a wild card spot moving forward.
We will need upgrades on defense, possibly 2

Some grit and size on bottom 6

I could add several lines to your list. He is sitting in his hands while his peers go to town. I know we don’t need to panic buy but many very good fits have slipped away for very reasonable asking prices. 2nd and 3rds don’t help us make the playoffs the next 3 years. Odds are they don’t help us at all. Neither do 15th overall picks.

It’s also confusing why Portillo just slipped away. We are code red on needing goalies. Does he hate Power, or did our GM sit on his hands on this one too?

Portillo was never going to be a Sabre. Any high NCAA pick needs to be thoroughly vetted. The NHL should really come up with a better solution.

I agree. It’s a broken system currently. Should be s mandatory RFA period even if they opt to finish college, or if they refuse to sign with the team who drafted them, the team who signs them has to pay a 1st to the draft team. That would end the BS quickly
