Fletcher said the priority this year was to find out what the young players could do, and said the Philadelphia Flyers have the seventh-youngest roster in the NHL. “Last year, we were 30th, so we’re clearly getting younger,” Fletcher said.
He also said the team is fifth in the NHL in win-percentage improvement from last season.
“It’s going to be a longer process than maybe what we want, but we’re starting to build the right way and integrating a lot of young players on the team,” Fletcher said.
Someone please take this guy behind the barn already ...
That won’t excite a fan base that has seen one playoff series win in the last 11 years, including this season.
At least they've finally popped their heads out of the sand. Chuck says Scott is on board with a rebuild path. I guess we'll see. - Tomahawk
I think its because Torts has Scott's ear now, and he has basically forced Chuck to move to rebuild mode. But it takes the first half of this season to figure that out?? Now that the Flyers all but lost their best chance at landing Bedard?? Comical and tragic at the same time.

How so as you are referring to me?
Kane a ranger. Reported not much of a return. - Peter Richards
Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is on his way to the New York Rangers in exchange for a conditional second-round pick and a fourth-rounder in 2023 ahead of the NHL's March 3 deadline, according to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli.
Wow, that makes Chuck's deal with Florida look like a coup considering the circumstances were pretty much the same.

so conditional 2nd, they make conference finals its a 1st and a 4th for Kane, why so little? Maybe the no waive clause and only 1 team, what does this remind me of???

Wanted him to stay his career but was fine with the g return. Knowing he would only go to Florida. A first and tip were the main pieces. Good with that.
The quote from earlier is getting the headlines, but the standout thing for me was that Chuck basically admitted that the "retool" is dead and they've downshifted to a league-standard rebuild posture. Talked about maybe moving older guys out and getting younger, giving more prospects a chance to win a job in the lineup. All things we've wanted to hear for awhile now. - Tomahawk
Chicago intentionally tanks like real bad. Have a culture that protected a rapist. Then they are gonna get nothing for Teows (sick/injured) and now this return for Kane. I have no sympathy for this team. And hopefully they drop as far as they can with some karma of the lottery and get denied Bedard.

removing Seller from the lineup hurt what exactly? Seeler does have more value. Not debating that and it wasn’t the point. Where the flyers are at and will be for the foreseeable future there is no need to hang onto Seeler.
Any pick in the 4th or 5th rd I take rather easily. They can get that. - hello it's me 2050
I'm not necessarily talking about Seeler, per se, but he's a good example of what I mean. The fact of the matter is that draft picks from 25 to 30 have less than 2.4% chance of ever playing 100 games in the NHL. Later rounds are far, far lower. I think that in the current Flyer's situation people tend to value late round draft picks far too highly. In that light, Seeler at $775k is an absolute steal. Are there other "Seelers" out there? Sure. But, at his salary for his contribution, I'd be weary of trading 1 bird in hand for 2 in the bush in his case.
I’m not buying that the Flyers have suddenly changed their thinking. In fact, I look at this press conference and see them doubling down on the past few seasons of incompetence.
Yes, they’ve acknowledged that they need high end talent. Again. This isn’t new. They haven’t changed their approach on how to get that high end talent.
They’re simply hoping to get lucky as hell with a 6-10 overall pick and spend assets when available on the latest bright shiny object this off-season. - StepfordSam

Just a thought. I could be wrong. - Letterkenney
flyers are the same team with or without seeler. give me the lottery ticket.
Actually hope they keep him then extend him for 2 more years at whatever raise they give him. He is a Torts type player. Can see him wearing an A at some point.

Is Provorov worth a late 1st round pick to a contender with an obvious need to upgrade their D? Is he worth more than just a late 1st? - Big_E_88
not sure but I would not move him for a late round 1st.
