I swear Dubas plays Leafs fans like a reality tv show....just a bunch of confusing moves and they jump around all excited like they just snorted a bunch of sugar cubes.

Erik Gustafsson suddenly become awesome, Kerfoot is going to bring in a haul...now the Golden boy Luke comes back.

- Glak18

VAN and the media did a good job hyping Schenn. They talk like he’s the Conor McDavid of 3rd pair Dmen. If Schenn is worth a 3rd, Engvall is worth more than that.

Gave up their own and got Boston’s correct?
- ClaudeFather

The one they gave up in the McCabe deal is a protected 2025. And Boston could get bounced in the 1st-round, so who knows...

recent years just for the flyers have a couple late rpicks. lindblom, cates, elliot is coming.

but if you don't have the picks the possibility is never there, right. Seeler is a 6-8th d man. they are available every summer in UFA. if other trades happen can get another plug.

attard, zamula, ginning or another cheap vet on a one year deal would easily fill the void on a team that will not be competing for the cup next year.

- Peter Richards

It would be good if the veteran 7D next year was more of a stand-in, who is ready more like 8th/9th on the depth chart. If the Flyers leave themselves more cap and roster space to call-up prospects as needed, then guys like Attard or Andrae or whichever almost ready d-man who starts on the Phantoms can be the injury fill-in. The 7D in that case only has to play maybe 5 games, as stop gap, road trip fill-in, last minute and such.

I certainly understand your point. I don't think that Seeler's presence stops that. Would I rather see the young guys coming up? Sure. I just think that for the money, he's a good 6/7 type of guy that's worth more than a 5th rounder. Outside of the trade deadline, they'll probably get more than that during the next season or even off season. Time will tell.
- Letterkenney

It does stop it as the coach will play him over all of those players.

No one is arguing he isnt a solid dman.

seeing how the flyers operate not ridiculous at all.

What bird in hand? He is a soon to be 30 year old #6 dman who plays 14 minutes a night. So hard to find a replacement for that next season. Cant have Attard, Zamula, or whoever fill that role. Nope. Need the Seeler.

- hello it's me 2050

Well, ideally you want him to be a #7. And in no way do you want Attard or Zamula to be a #7.

You want Seeler or a player like him to be a vet cost controlled #7.

I get why you want o get an asset for him, but I would rather have Seeler at 775 than have to pay another vet even a million to ride the bench or even worse take a top 6 spot. Either way you most definitely do NOT want to have a kid as the #7. I would rather they get lots of minutes in Lehigh.

We are just trying to have a rational discussion on this. Trading him for a 5th round pick that never sees the ice is fine. But personally I would rather have the cost controlled vet for one more season.

You forget that Clarke, Holmgren, and Hextall ALL were players and turned out to be bad GMs. Why will Briere be different?
- Letterkenney
Briere was a more cerebral player than those other that you mentioned.

I get it. The reason we're even debating this is strictly a symptom of the incompetence of CF which has put this team in the detestable situation they are in.

I think if someone offers a 2024 2nd or a 2023 3rd then I would trade Seeler. He has more value to a competitor than to the Flyers so it’s possible…something like that. He has been really solid this season and has a good value for a cap-strapped team.

I have a feeling by the time Friday comes, all the buyers will run out of cap space for moves....that leaves Chucky at the alter with pud in hand.

Seeler has elevated his play the last 2 seasons where he is now a top 6 dman. A #6 , though top 6 nonetheless

He will not be a 7th dman on this team. Not gonna happen. That is clear as day. He will play. It isn't about Attard or Zamula being the 7th.

Seeing this team will be in the same boat as this year. There is really no need to keep Seeler to me. Take the late round pick.

Watching all these trades going on and all we can manage is future considerations. Hope he can score goals. Hard to believe with the same salary cap the lineup we are going to put on the ice tmrrw vs Rangers. Our best forward couldn't make their 4th line of Goodrow..Vesey and Motte

They literally are flying at the seat of their pants with no plan. Now they want to get much younger. Picks and prospects.

Keeping Seeler does not in any way prevent a single young player from making the team or getting playing time.

I'm more concerned over the fact the teams who are waving the white playoff flags are dropping their cap numbers, while the Flyers look to be going up somehow.

Of course you would but nobody is going to offer that. Luke Schenn, who is a better player just went for a 3rd.

Did Seeler prevent york for making the team Cliff? Petty sure you that was your belief for a long time.

Will Torts play any of those young guys I mentioned over Seeler next season do you think?

yes, you have an instant classic super bowl and one team didn't deserve to be there, just white noise
- wcorvette

Yes it was a great game. One Qb playing on 1 leg won the game. Eagles had a good team this year. Should have taken advantage of the opportunity.

- landros 2[/quote Absolutely 49ers lost their qb first possession, put in a back up who also got hurt. Deebo knew the eagles would lose.
