Trade alert! The #Sens have acquired defenceman Jakob Chychrun from @ArizonaCoyotes in exchange for a conditional first-round draft pick in ’23, a conditional second-round selection in ’24 (previously acquired from @Capitals) and a second-round pick in ’26.
Conditions: The ’23 1st-round pick is top-5 protected. If met, pick becomes ’24 1st-round unprotected. Additionally, should #Sens reach ’23 ECF, the 2nd-round pick becomes ’24 1st-round top 10-protected. If that condition is met, the pick becomes ’25 1st-round unprotected.

Basically a 1st and two seconds. This has been a strange 48 hours in terms of trade values |

#Isles have sent down Durandeau, Holmstrom & Koivula.
Accruing more cap space.
With these moves, NYI went from under $6 M in projected deadline cap space to projected to $7.816 M, per

Interesting move to me. More coming? |

I’m assuming JGP is coming back and Engvall. That leaves one extra spot. Unless I’m missing something? |

Knew JGP was skating, didn’t realize he was that close. I get the space for Engvall. Room for someone else though possibly. Or maybe looking to far into this. Been so crazy this deadline and pretty funny Lou kicked it off with Horvat 😆😆 |

Holmstrom might just be a paper transaction to get extra cap space just in case maybe? |

Well in Islander-centric news, that's good for them on Saturday against DET. The
Capitals have punted on the season, Detroit is punting on the season, Buffalo is dealing with a long-term injury to Tuch and a less-clear injury to Dahlin. They're being given a lot of the breaks they need to have a legitimate chance at making the playoffs.
Whether they succeed or fail, they'll be entirely responsible for what happens. |

I just have no idea why this year teams felt they needed to make all these moves? It's not like things are wide open especially in the East. |

Well yeah, they know they have to load up in order to compete.
The Bruins are on pace to set the all-time points record for a season, they have every reason in the world to load up and put themselves in the best position to win a Cup. The Leafs are the Leafs, they haven't won round since the Roman empire fell and Dubas is almost certainly a goner if they make another first round exit. The Rangers had almost-exclusive cheap access to two very talented players. The Lightning are still very much in their contention window. The Devils are young and taking the next step and trying to get their young guys some good playoff experience (they'll still be out in the first round, even with Meier). Carolina is an exceptional team that could make a deep run if they get the goaltending they need.
Lots of good reasons for teams to bend over backwards to acquire every good player they can fit under the cap and mortgage the future |

Hope this means Pageau is coming back
