Iskhakov makes it 7-1. That’s his 3rd point of the night.
That’s 12 points in 7 games for the 2018 second round pick.

Things are getting interesting for the Rangers
They could have helped us playing three games against teams trailing us and instead went 0-3. Now their next seven games they can either help us or start to put their own playoff standing in peril

Will be interesting to see if Iskhakov can challenge for a spot next year. |

Today should be a nice quiet deadline day since everyone shot their cannon the past week and a half. Would be very surprised if Lou pulled anything off today. Especially since the shelves are empty.
Very happy with Horvat move. Still think we are in need of a defenseman. |

6 teams with 66 or 65 points. Islanders have 70. I'm worried about Ottawa the most. Can't believe that Lou isnt going to add something else today. Unless he feels there just isn't anyone out there that is a significant upgrade who is available.
Gonna be an interesting last month or so. |

Ottawa definitely is rolling and has the goods. I don't expect any further moves from Lou at this stage. On ine hand a veteran dman would be nice to pair with Dobson (and replace Aho) but if anything I would prefer we traded Mayfield for a 2nd and just called Bolduc up. |

I think we're beyond the point where we should become sellers. Lou has the Isles all in with his trades over the past few weeks. Plus, in case the Isles do make the playoffs, Mayfield seems at his best there where he doesn't get called for his usual infractions. LOL. I agree that a veteran dman would be a good move, so that Aho could become depth. Seeler's name was mentioned here, and he would be a fine addition, although I have no idea what he would cost, or whether he's even available. |

No way Lou sells at this point. I think a dman would be the move at this point if Lou can find one.

Although I agree that Lou is not likely to move any pending UFA's today, I don't believe he is "all in" at this point. I think the Horvat trade was a long needed necessity and feel how he structured the 1st as protected left us in a good position. Giving up Raty may hurt, but we get a solid player now in Horvat, and he's only 27. Separately, giving up a 2024 third for Engvall isn't all that significant either, and we get a very solid two way player that can put up 15-20 goals a season, if not more. I think these moves are good solid moves for the next several years. What Boston, NYR, and Tor are doing is more of an all in play to me than what lou has done. |

Fair enough. To the extent there are various degrees of "all in", Lou is less "all in" than some of the other teams you mention. My point is simply that I don't think Lou will be looking to sell today (nor should he be). If anything, he will be looking to make one last move to help the team make this year's playoffs. |

I don't think we'd be sellers in the traditional sense if we dealt Varly and Mayfield. I dont see Bolduc as much of a downgrade from Mayfield at this stage. (Agreed Mayfield is more of a playoff guy though). Varly has significant value but won't play much from here out. That said, every game matters now so I imagine Lou sees Varly as a big piece of our playoff push. |

I think Varlamov has much more value to the team than he does in a trade.
The Kings got their goalie and there really aren't any other teams that need and/or afford Varlamov. So even if there is one, there's zero competition for him which means Lou would probably get something like a 3rd or 4th round pick. I'd rather keep him at that price. |

I suppose if someone is willing to overpay enough for the guys you mention, then you have to consider a sell. But it would have to be a pretty big overpay. |

Moving Bertuzzi I understand. But Hronek perplexes me. And the whole Vrana debacle carries a whiff of fishiness about it. |

Kurz just asked Mayfield yesterday about his contract status and he said he wasn't even thinking about it
Kevin Kurz
Staff Writer, Islanders
Asked pending UFA Scott Mayfield this morning if he'd like to sign here again.
“My goal right now is to focus on making the playoffs. I think that’s the number one thing I’m worried about. That’s when I like playing hockey the most, it’s the most fun, it’s what we all play for. That’s the focus right now. I think I’ve been pretty straightforward, I love it here. The organization is great."

I do think its interesting that both Varly and Mayfield made some pretty passionate comments about how they would like to stay and love playing here. Lou announced extensions for Cal and Zach last year on deadline day I believe, so it wouldn't be shocking if he did the same with one or both of them. |

I don't think it'd be shocking, but by this time last year they were pretty clearly out of the running. They (some combination of Mayfield/Varly/Lou) may not want to deal with the distraction of negotiating while they're fighting for a playoff spot. I wouldn't be surprised either, but seems like winning games is the only priority for everyone involved right now. |

Tampa tied it with Pitt and are making a push to take the lead late. (*Edit Pens win in OT)
Buffalo getting obliterated by Boston 7-1
Det tied with Seattle 4-4
I forgot thw Sens were chasing too...geez - keaner17
I saw on some site they have pittsburgh as 93.6% chance of making the playoffs. Not sure how that math works with 21 games remaining |

Both players being able to make the jump next year would sure help the Cap.
