Bill any thoughts on Chychrun being held out as long as he has? Does the PA on board with this? What about the league? Haven't heard much said.

I get it if a trade is pending or a day or 2 before the deadline. This long however seems wrong.

why wont the coach play Ollie? Any thoughts?
- hello it's me 2050

His family will be at the game. That's why Torts is scratching him.

Not the type of player Torts tends to like and, arguably, is an NHL/AHL tweener ala David Kase.
- bmeltzer

So his first year in North America. He was the Phantoms leading scorer. It has been decided he is tweener already?

Well we all know Torts is adverse to offense and skill guys. Cant wait for zac mac to get back into the lineup. Speaking of which will he be re-signed?

Haven't seen it anywhere but can someone tell me by what metric the Flyers are 5th most improved team? I can't even imagine this to be true.

True but I don't hear good things about that one.

Now if you want to get a little local, I'll drive Braun myself and kick his a$$ out the door along rt 23 for a Shady Maple gift card.

JVR was a healthy scratch as a rookie. Not in 2011 or 2012 playoffs.

His 2020 playoff run was a disappointment.

- bmeltzer

Was his Flyers career a disappointment? That was my point.

JVR will be in the lineup tonight. Seven D, 11 F with Lycksell and Bellows both being scratched. Hart, as expected, starts.
- bmeltzer

Nothing better than calling up young players then scratching them. Especially when the AHL team is actually playing for something.

11 F, 7 D missing the best scorer in the lineup is a rather interesting move. I'm all about draft position at this point, so I approve.
- Trox88

Damage control. Instead of losing by 5 maybe it's only 3 with the 3rd an EN.

Obviously not Bill, but these moves for prolonged periods of time are certainly a bunch of BS. They violate the integrity of the game (not that intentional tanking already hasn’t as we see teams like Arizona and Chicago engaged in it). We can at least understand when a team is rebuilding but not playing the best team possible on a regular basis should result in forfeiting draft picks or some other type of sanction. A game or two, I think everyone can see that while legit trade talks are going on. But sitting a high caliber players for several weeks is just bush league and Count Chocula should’ve stepped in. He won’t, of course, because someone in Arizona must have pictures of him doing something really bad for as much as he holds up that pathetic team.

Carter Hart stole a few games this year resulting in a few more points putting the Flyers closer to 11th place than 3rd place. Yeah that’s the actual difference. Nothing to do with Buffoon Fletcher

"rebuilding", wants to "play" the young guys. Yet Ollie sits. All about the actions, not the lip service.

Really shocked no national media guys don't run any stories on how this once great franchise as slipped to the worst in the league.

- hello it's me 2050

The softball questions he gets in theses pressers are laughable. I’m not sure why Scott and Fletch avoid the media. They simply ask what the teams plans are not why they are or why some of the excuses simply don’t add up to the teams current place. I understand guys that are working for the team towing the company line, but I’m at a loss that Fletchers moves haven’t been a hell of a lot more scrutinized by media not under their employment.

I could be completely wrong. But I think in the claim he stated that it was related to points, or percentage of points at this juncture of the season. So the way I took it was, they have a higher percentage of possible points at this stage of this season compared to the same number of games played last season. That gap between the two percentage of points obtained represents the "improvement", and the Flyer gap in that percentage is the 5th highest in the league. Again, I could be totally wrong.

Part of me wants Arizona to get the #1 just so the NHL can try to market Connor Bedard playing in a 4600 seat arena for a few seasons.

Apparently it’s like a trumpism…they are actually 7th best increase. Some truth to it.

I am taking the puck line tonight tonight. I think this is a beat down. Rangers will be motivated since they got Kane and will want to get rolling towards the playoffs. I know he debuts tomorrow but their will be energy. Zibenajed kills the Flyers. I see 5-1. I don't think it does well tonight.

A second tenure that was a failure for Van Riemsdyk. Zero 50 point seasons in Philadelphia. Funny how he had 4 such seasons in Toronto.

JVR healthy playoff scratch during both stays. Hard to believe for a # 2 overall pick. Then again the Flyers drafted Patrick second. He made JVR look like Gordie Howe.

- PLindbergh31

What I find even funnier is how Toronto had absolutely no interest in resigning him after those impressive point totals. Granted there are other factors involved, such as cap situation and readiness of prospects to replace him. But I remember it being common knowledge that he definitely wasn't resigning with the Leafs, and thinking at the time that it was odd they didn't show at least a smidge of interest in bringing back such a prolific scorer. Why was that? Because they knew what he was/is and knew there was no way he would live up to the next contract he was going to get from somebody.

Who cares about the metrics. What we do know is that there are a number of teams who have gotten worse on purpose by moving out players to get future assets. So, I guess the Flyers jumped ahead of them. The question is, did Fletcher consider that? If he did then he's just reinforcing that he's just a used car salesman that think the team's fan base is stupid. If he didn't consider that, then he is just plain stupid.
