I view JvR more like a scapegoat during the 2020 playoffs. I believe JvR ended the season with a broken leg before returning for the playoffs (post reopening from Covid) and he wasn’t getting first unit PP net front presence time. As well as being on a line with Laughton and Tyler Pitlick? Someone explain to me how anyone succeeds in that position?

What I find even funnier is how Toronto had absolutely no interest in resigning him after those impressive point totals. Granted there are other factors involved, such as cap situation and readiness of prospects to replace him. But I remember it being common knowledge that he definitely wasn't resigning with the Leafs, and thinking at the time that it was odd they didn't show at least a smidge of interest in bringing back such a prolific scorer. Why was that? Because they knew what he was/is and knew there was no way he would live up to the next contract he was going to get from somebody.

This exact scenario has happened far too often and has been going on for far too long. I think the madness of having to deal with this situation over and over is the lynchpin reason of why I don’t watch the games anymore or really care what happens with the Flyers as much as I used to.

Who cares about the metrics. What we do know is that there are a number of teams who have gotten worse on purpose by moving out players to get future assets. So, I guess the Flyers jumped ahead of them. The question is, did Fletcher consider that? If he did then he's just reinforcing that he's just a used car salesman that think the team's fan base is stupid. If he didn't consider that, then he is just plain stupid.

Yeah but not really. I think your expectations for this organization are drastically higher than is deserved.

He hasn't learned to play the right way yet to get better linemates. Plus, look at all the room Deslauriers will give him on the ice. Both of their names start with D, so it's a logical combination. Desnoyers has to learn to play Flyers hockey.
