He probably will be around for at least 2 more years. But the reason is not to get to the cap floor. The reason is that he is not good at hockey and his contract is untradeable even retaining 50% and even at a TDL where teams are overpaying for Dmen. - -Doh-
He's a tank twofer, not very good and making some decent money. By all accounts he's a good teammate, though, and LR will need some of those with all the kids, journeymen, and AHL fodder that will be making up the roster these next couple of years. |

With Chicago moving Max Domi, they seem to be working on a couple other things before tmrw's deadline. Sense right now is that Andreas Athanasiou will be sticking around. We'll see if that changes.
Who's left? Caleb? Johnson? Stalock? Khudobin if obtained in the Domi trade? |

Honestly, what playoff team would want him? He tries to stick candle through the whole opposing team loses the puck at the blue line all the time and never makes a pass |

If not AA what are the couple things? Maybe taking on bad contracts? |

All: Which team out there has the longest potential SC window - I would say NJ. Very young corp and just a poop ton of talent. It sure feels like KD is tracking this model to a T. Stack the pipeline with high end talent till the cupboards are overflowing - thoughts all? - glennjpawlak22
With the right adds, the Sens could be in that conversation starting next year. |

Agree. I would trade him 50% retained for future considerations. I would be terribly disappointed if they resigned him. |

This is what is most likely to me.
Have to hit the cap floor next season somehow, so taking on vets with bad deals under control next year while securing more capital makes sense.
90% of the team would go unclaimed if everyone left on the roster was placed on waivers. |

Framework of the deal, but cap complications prevented one of the great spectacles in sports tonight: player walking across the hallway to his new team in same building.
To #TexasHockey: Max Domi, Dylan Wells
To #Blackhawks: 2nd Rd Pick, Anton Khudobin
No salary retained. |

There's gonna be a lottery at the second intermission for 3 lucky fans to skate on the first line for the third period. |

One retention slot left. Flip Khudobin 1/2 retained. Who needs goalie insurance and has 1.65M in cap space? Ottawa?

Might be a good idea to carry three goaltenders the rest of the year, since both Mrazek and Stalock are made out of glass. So the aforementioned goalies and Khubodin, keep the young guys in the A. |

Didn't think about that . After TDL the you can have more than 23 on the roster as long as you're cap complaint. |

Who's the centerman, Reichel? Wonder if Reichel plays center or wing during this callup? .. - Mr Ricochet
Where does Reichel play tonight - center or wing? I immediately cannot respond thinking how difficult Richardson coaching job must become the remainder of the season. Particularly tonight and their previous game. The players attitude is one of who gives a sh*t and who is next to be traded Yeah we kind of suck too. Any effort tonight is like when you played a pick up game in your old neighborhood and it was just all about scoring no one bothering to play defense
The goaltending situation: Either Stallock or Khudobin won’t be here next season
And if there is anything to the report that one of our AHL goaltenders is involved (but not yet officially named in this trade), agreed with the comment “it better be Wells.” |

The Blackhawks’ scouts have some serious work to do. The problem is most of the 11 guys drafted, assuming all the picks are used, won’t be in the NHL for 3 to 5 years. It’s going to be a long grind, hopefully Blackhawk fans understand that they’ll need all the patience they have. |

If the BOD is representative of Hawk fans, they're screwed. |

I'm glad they picked a lane. I thought it was a bit overdue.

Right on, Rick. But it even goes further than that, it will take the whole organIzation to be competent every step of the process.
Amatuer scouts to evaluate properly for the draft/trades, pro scouts to evaluate the prospects once they turn pro and to evaluate trades, proper development paths decided the executed, the advanced stats department to add value to the process and the organIzation to collect and use the information in a manner that it's useful.
And of course KD at the tip of the iceberg to make decisions, lots and lots of them.
A long process with each and every prospect/player that each tentacle of the organIzation will probably touch. - Mr Ricochet
Based on what I know, demolition experts in any field are rarely around long to oversee and conduct re-construction work. Clearly KD and Hockey Ops aren't concerned about being fired, so it must have been given the green light by ownership.
Big job for a rookie GM. Other than the exceptional player, draftees take 4 or 5 years to become real NHL'ers. That's longer than entry level contracts. In the mean time, veterans playing out the string or guys looking for 1 last contract will be the entertainment at the UC.
I just wonder whether Rocky realizes how bad this is going to be and for how long. |

One day at a time. I like their brand of hockey way better than when JC was here. Just watching them they are going to have trouble scoring, even playing right now they're holding their own against the Stars.
I'm actually looking forward to see the likes of Vlasic, Del Mastro, Reichel get their feet wet at the NHL level. You have to remember i was a long suffering Cubs fan, and the day Theo took over and he said they are going to construct this from the ground up, i was relieved. This has all the earmarks of what the Red Sox, Cubs did. And Theo said which i agree with is all you can do is put your team in a position to win a championship.
Its not pretty but it's necessary. |
