Dallas is in first place in the Division? - vabeachbear
Yes. This division sure isn't what it was a few years ago. I don't see how they get out the 1st round. They kinda suck. |

I'm impressed 60 games in and they are still playing good competitive hockey. Can't wait until the talent starts filtering into LR system. |

I understand evaluating talent is another aspect of the job, but there are 2 things KiD understands, how to trade your assets for quality draft picks, and he did hire Luke Richardson |

I don't think S Jones or Murphy will be going anywhere for a few years. I'm sure any FA will try to get the most they can with term, but with the way the salary cap is there will be FAs out there that KD will be able to sign. - BetweenTheDots
You are probably correct yet I could imagine one of them is moved. Do both stay if one of the kid prospects is here and performing reasonably well. KD loves draft choices. Would be too much to expect an early pick for S Jones even if we retain salary and term as the S Jones is one heckuva contracts. If one of them is tradeable - making it makes even a small semblance of sense to do so - expect the trade deadline to be the opportunistic time to see a trade. The temptation to bring in a kid or give more ice time to a kid already here, has to be measured carefully. No need to rush anyone and more likely no trade involving S Jones or Murphy
Well at least not S Jones
Switching topics now….how much will Eckholm help Edmonton advance far in playoffs. Is Eckholm the biggest difference maker among trade deadline acquisitions around the league? Broberg not yet developed into a top player and they still have suck arse dmen and average goaltending. |

All: Which team out there has the longest potential SC window - I would say NJ. Very young corp and just a poop ton of talent. It sure feels like KD is tracking this model to a T. Stack the pipeline with high end talent till the cupboards are overflowing - thoughts all? - glennjpawlak22
I’m partial to Buffalo. If they can get Dahlin and Power on reasonable deals, they’ll have Thompson on a good deal and Cozens. Huge prospect pool as well. |

Domi for Khudobin and a Second.
- ObeseOprah[tank revs harder]
Why would KD do that deal without getting more from Dallas. They basically gave domi away and got a second rd pick but helped out Dallas by not making them add more by taking their dead weight goalie to make the money work. We just helped them out. Domi should have been just a 2nd rd pick alone. We didn't need to take khudobin

If I had to guess it would be because they wouldn't be able to make Domi's deal fit in without losing Khudobin? I didn't see if he was counting against the Stars cap at he time. |

Mitchell not in the lineup
Huh? His future here?
But C Jones of course is in. And England dude is in. Maybe Mitchell is: scratched, was sent to Rockford, has a minor injury, held out as he may be traded. Take a guess - jhawk59
I'd guess with rumblings that KD is looking to do more things, moving Mitchell is one of them. There are a bunch of D prospects coming up that have the chance/ability to supplant him. The one major advantage he was supposed to bring is offense and he seems a bit gun shy engaging there. Maybe the change of scenery angle will be played. |

Its kind of weird. He was anything but gun shy even as a frosh at Denver. After the first time I saw him play and realized he was the Hawks draft pick i always watched whenever they were on.
He was very good, and thought they got a real steal in the 2nd round. Shows you what I know about hockey evaluation. |

It just doesn’t seem like they have much interest in him. I don’t think he’s played poorly, but he sure doesn’t stay in the lineup very long. Phillips seems to have the coaches’ confidence a bit more. |

So, the Hawks had 11 picks last year. They currently have 11 in this draft, and two firsts in the next two drafts after this year. KD has also shed everyone except for Murphy and Jones who would "block" a prospect. Now that the Hawks have amassed all of this draft capital and roster flexibility, at what point does Kyle start actually building the team he wants? Does it start this offseason? Bring in some young-ish guys that actually have some experience and build the room up so that the kids have something to be part of instead of having to make it themselves?
They likely won't be competing for a PO spot next year, but I would expect that they actively try to be notably better than this year, no? I can't imagine that they would actively try to be the worst team in the league two years straight for the lottery. |
