I think even the BOD will come to their senses and realize what transpired with the Kane trade wasn’t a conspiracy by Kane or Brisson and that Toews is in fact out with a medical issue and not some scam devised because he’s upset with the rebuild. Unfortunately it had to happen. But Kane and Toews along with a few others are synonymous with the Chicago Blackhawks and with the three championships. It’s unlikely Kane will be much of a factor for the Rangers as I don’t think they have the supporting cast and it may be too late for Kane to gel with his new team. I hope, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, Hossa and possibly Hjalmarsson and Crawford all sign one day contracts to retire as Blackhawks. - paulr
It is weird to see Kane in a different sweater but if he wins again....good for him. It was a mutual parting and I wish him the best. Not going to hope he gets injured or whatever crack pot dream others have.
he's not going to retire as a Ranger. He's not going to go into the HOF as a Ranger. It's ok.....
The old era is over and time to start again...so is the circle/life of sports. all we can do is hope Davidson has the right hockey ops people to make the picks that separate him from the rest of the NHL in the 2nd, and down the board rounds. Don't get cute. Don't get arrogant. STockpile kids....and hope enough stick and if you get a sense a kid isnt' trending....ship him out and sell high like the 90s braves did to perfection. |

I'll say next. I think this season you'll see some more Domi and AA type signings...possibly Domi himself. - HawkintheD
I wonder if he starts with Kurashev and tries to negotiate a reasonable 5 year deal . I like Chunks idea, now if i miss quoted you Chunk let me apologize now, of signing guys to 4-5 year contracts. Then the following year Raddysh and Reichel. |

So when does KD start signing players that are part of the rebuild?
This offseason, next or year 3?
How do you layer FA signings? - BetweenTheDots
IMO...I think it's at least 2 more years away, if not 3......
Even if they land Bedard and he hits every expectation there is.....you need others to hit as quickly. Most notably on D and supporting Fs.....by the time Kane/Toews got here you had Seabrook, Keith, Sharp, and others in the system NHL ready so that jump happened so fast. They weren't the right mix to win the cup without tinkering (barker, wisniewski, ruuttu all shipped out)......so who are those buildling blocks this organization has? |

I really wonder with a flat cap IF they were to land Bedard if some high profile free agents would be interested in coming here.....right away. Not saying Davidson would/should pony up....but I wouldnt' rule it out. Especially these guys seeing how insane McDavid is. |

I know many say winning is more important, but if you have guys in the twilight of their career i believe the majority of them are looking to make as much as they can before the sun sets on their career.

If the Leafs and Edmonton go out early I will not be surprised to see McDavid and Matthews actively try to get themselves traded. |

I think it will be Matthews. East is a meat grinder. As good as boston is right now, nobody saw Tampa getting swept by Columbus a few years back. Not saying it will happen but I don't see Boston sweeping Buffalo, Ottawa, NYI, or Pittsburgh. Whoever they face.
The west? Different story....not buying the kings which means they'll make the cup final. So much seeding left to play out but I still think that conference is Colorado's to lose.....Edmonton should make it out of the pacific |

I would not be surprised if the Leafs go early, Tampa may be sandbagging for the playoffs like the Hawks used to do. The Oil could be a different story, the west is not as strong. |

What has Kurashev done to deserve a 5 year contract? For that matter what has Kurashev done to deserve other than a minimal raise?
Dach got 4 years $3.3 AAV. Is Kurashev worth even 1/2 of that? |

2 years @ $2 million AAV would be reasonable for Kurashev. |

Interesting, last year at the deadline, Domi was traded for a 6th round pick |

I think he's improved every year, if you can pay him 3rd line money for 5 years, i think it'd be a good deal for the Blackhawks

Totally agree. Kurashev has not proven he is a top six player. With Reichel, other prospects not at the Rock, 6 first round picks in the next three drafts, plus free agent signings or trade acquisitions I don’t se a reason for locking up Kurashev long term for decent money. |

I don't know, the Bolts stars have played a lot lot lot of hockey. Based on the past 3 clubs playing to the finals for 3 years in a row, my money would be on the Leafs |

What is 3rd line money? Are 3rd line players hard to develop, sign or trade for? It looks like the Icehogs are loaded with them. Our accumulation of 2nd and 3rd round picks will be another source. The Hawks had Lafferty, D!ckinson, Kurashev this year. I’d rather have guys on on or two year contracts. |

Effective ones are, 5 years at 2.5 per would be a good deal for the Blackhawks
Didn't you get the memo, 3 to 5 years before we develop any of the talent we drafted. |

Wonder if they sign Wise after his season ends. They lose his rights in August if not signed. Same with Basse. Basse had a very good season at St. Cloud St.
Wise has put together a couple of decent seasons at OSU. Its not like RFD won't need bodies next season. Tho, Wise is 30 after being on the Blutarsky plan at college. |

Most of the guys in RFD are AHL lifers. |

I’m surprised AA wasn’t moved today? Not angry about it - just find it curious. I guess KD didn’t find a market for another fast player with little to no finish? |
