Have you been day drinking DK?

This is going to stay right up there with the Danault and Timonen trades in terms of mileage.

I’m going to enjoy it when the rangers are in cap hell, and they will be, then the Hawks will get their pound of flesh and then some.
- paulr

Not really. They just have dump goodrow next year and they should be fine. I’d like Kane to stay but it would have to be a Ranger friendly deal, and they won’t risk the 3 RFAs to do it. We’ll see how it goes he may love it and agree to 3/4 million per. That’s down the road tho

KD will get more castoff #7+ Dmen. Not his MO to play that many kids. KK will play in jr's again.

Will be interesting to hear what LR and Dean think after training camp next year. If they think he is ready, would KD still send him back?

So far Davidson has been the anti-Bowman - tearing the roster down completely, trading star players, not obtaining reclamation 1st round picks.

I doubt if he brings Korchinski up full time next year. That would be something Stan would have done. Korchinski, as some wise poster recently mentioned, will be on the Magical Mystery Tour next season - 9 games in the NHL, interspersed with time in the press box to observe things, then an AHL "conditioning" stint, then off to WJC camp and tourney, then back to juniors.

Hawks aren't going anywhere next year. Why allow him to go through next year's dumpster fire here?

- boilermaker100

There's not a player we own that will not spend a full year in the "A" before coming up full time.

Korchinski isn’t ready and if he's on the Hawk roster more than 9 games, the team is flirting with him going the Dach route and not being able to develop, especially on a horrendous team that has no support system for him. Besides, Del Mastro is far more ready than Korchinski and he should play in the AHL for a time to learn the pro game. There are lots of mistakes made in the last five or six years, cap issues, too many MNC’s, bad contracts with too much term, mortgaging the future trading away draft picks and prospects, not developing talent and bringing up youngsters before they’re ready. Hopefully KD doesn’t make those same mistakes.
- paulr

Incorrect Dach was a good WHL player with an alleged NHL frame.

Korchinski is legitimately dominating. He has nothing else to gain playing against kids. He was excellent last year and consistently the best player on the ice now. He needs to take a step forward.

What moves are your Pens going to make? Boeser? Miller?
- LAHawk

Hopefully none. Hextall has properly butchered the team like the idiot that he is. Failed to diagnose the problem (forward depth and goaltending) and instead reconfigured to blue line and made it worse. They'd have to replace 2D Dumoulin, 3C Carter, and 4C Bleuger to even be a remote contender in the EC. Dumoulin and Carter were obviously problems from last season that were ignored. He's a moron that should be pumping gas.

I think Nazar or Korchinski could be the outlier here. Nazar likely goes back for another year at Michigan, but then he’s 20 and do we really want him in Rockford if he’s ready?
I agree that for Green, Ludwinski, Rinzel, and others we’ll go the proper route.

Because he needs to get up to NHL speed and that only happens against NHL players.

It's gonna take 3-5 years regardless of how many years he spends in the minors or AHL to hit his full stride. I'd rather see him hit that sooner than later.

I can't wait till Dolan starts complaining again about the opponents playing too rough with his toys.

If I was Drury, I would see how much it would cost to bring Ryan Reeves back, unless you want your captain and best defenseman going around playing policeman. I see no Ranger (beside Goodrow) that wants to (will) play physical.

i don't see them getting out of the division. As you mentioned the top 6 is not young, they have a lot of star power, but I do not see them winning many board battles, and lack of depth on defense. Shesterkin has to go back to last year's Seisterkin for the Rangers to get out of the division IMO.
- LAHawk

I'm with you that the defensive depth could be a concern but this team is not small and won't get pushed around up front. In the top 6 Trocheck plays gritty, Krieder is a monster, Zib was well over 100 hits for 4 yrs, Tank is a stout heavy dude. That's 3 of the top 6.

Bottom 6 Kakko is a stout small area player, Motte is all motor/grit, Goodrow we all know, Carpenter and Vesey are honest players. ...... I think you under rate NYR's forward group being a softish.

Reading/watching from afar it kind of blows my mind you have a goaltending problem. I thought Jarry/deSmith was a solid combo. Is it really Hextall who was criticized by Snider for being too careful with the youngsters? of Burke who is so old school, makes a great TV commentator, but as a builder of hockey clubs has a real checkered past.

Current available cap space 2 days before the TDL for teams that still want to make a splash. The next couple of days will be busy.

Vegas 7.2M
Washington 4.9M
Toronto 4.7M
Carolina 7.1M
Colorado 6.9M
Calgary 3.2M
Islanders 5M
Kings 5M
Winnipeg 5.1M

Hawks still with one retention slot available. C'mon KD let's do 1 or 2 more trades.

Domi to Colorado ?
AA to anywhere ?
Stalock didn't get re-concussed last night. Trade him while he's healthy.
C. Jones to anywhere (if Seth allows it)
Murphy - more likely over the summer

Ricco, they may be big, but they don't play big except for Goodrow (which is the main reason they signed him. Tarasanko since his shoulder injury is a shell of himself in the corner, Troccet is all of 180 pounds, kreider although big is not a board battler. How much time do you think Motte is going to get besides penalty kill. I doubt they roll 4 lines, the top 6 will be howling.

Kings trade Quick +2023 1st for Gavrikov and Korpisalo. Wonder if CBJ tries to flip Quick and retain? Not sure he really has much value.

Hoping Domi gets us something but beyond that, don’t think there is much on Hawks anyone would have interest in.

KD had little to no leverage in any negotiations, so I do not blame him for the underwhelming return. Kane screwed him and acted like the little teenager he was when I got to Chicago. While he did great things for the Hawks and I appreciate it - especially after watching the Zhamnov and Amonte "era" - good riddance and Kane is now the enemy. It is probably good that I am not the GM (on a whole bunch of levels - LOL), as I would have told Kane to pound sand and enjoy playing for a losing team for the rest of the year while completely breaking down the entire lineup. I would have told Kane that he is free to tell the NYR that he wants to play for them this year, but the price was going to be high. In a way, put the pressure on Kane to grease the wheels for a deal.

Kane acted like the spoiled brat that he always was, the Hawks supported him in all his early year "troubles" and he hosed them. I have seen the usual jock sniffers like Pat Boyle, etc. talk about how Kane "earned" the right to dictate things as if his deeds gave him special status because of what he did in the past. Bull. He had the NMC clause built into his contract and was paid quite handsomely might I add. He was an employee of the organIzation and while he exercised that contract parameter, he quit on the team the last week. The organIzation has to think of the future and if they determined that Kane did not want to be a part of it, the best thing to do was separate. This is a business and in 10 years, nobody will give a rip about Patrick Kane. Real fans will care more about how the team is doing.

People like to talk about the Giroux deal last year as a comparison, but the one thing that we do not know is whether or not the Rangers really wanted Kane as much as Florida wanted Giroux. It is obvious that Kane wanted the Rangers, but were the NYR willing to hold off until the summer to get Kane or did they want him right now? Judging by the deal, KD was more interested in getting something for Kane than letting him leave in the summer for nothing. Kane's delay and reluctance to "allow" only a deal to NYR severely handcuffed KD. I cannot blame the NYR for giving the Hawks scraps, they played it as they should have - the realized that KD had no leverage and the player only wanted to go there. I am glad that Kane is gone now and would love for nothing more than to see the NYR fail miserably. In fact, screw that entire city - NY is vastly overrated and a dump.

KD has a plan, whether it works or not is the big question. StanBow left this team in a horrible position and now KD has to clean up his mess. The pressure is now on KD as this is "his" team and we shall see what happens.

That is what a Hawk's beat reporter printed. Then why did they wait until the SJ game to sit Kane for "roster management reasons"?
