Lets hope he doesn't. But if there are 5000 fans in the seats to watch crap for 3 yearss and Danny and Rocky get jumpy who knows what will happen. - RickJ
Then if they rush prospects the Hawks won’t only not improve but there will be 5,000 fans watching crap for ten years. |

So next year they don't have $21 mil. in salary to pay to 2 players. How many seats does $21 mil. a year buy? |

Domi does not have any movement clauses in his contract so potential destinations are wide open for him. With one retention spot left, I cannot see him not moving. Calgary and Winnipeg still have lots of Cap room. I can see one of those teams picking him up to counter moves made by teams in their divisions. - 67hawks
Seems to me that last year, the rumor was that KD chose not to use his last retention slot (on deHaan or one of the others) as that limited his trade flexibility before the draft. Not sure how that works or when the retention on Kane expires.
The recent comment that Domi and AA were not signed just to flip seems to say that KD will be driving a hard bargain for them (no retention and good return).
I think Khaira might also return a late pick before Friday if he is healthy.

I honestly don’t know who they pay this offseason. Pastrnak and Larkin likely aren’t making it to market, O’Reilly, Tarasenko, and anyone on the wrong side of thirty likely doesn’t want to suffer this team being awful next season.
You could try to throw huge shorter deals at Klingberg, Kuzmenko, Killorn, Nyqvist, Dadonov, Monahan, but none of them move the needle aside from Klingberg. The rest of the list is rough and old. Probably have to look for teams trying to shed cap and get a solid sweetener that way. |

Think only Domi has a chance to be moved. Too many other sellers and better product out there than anything we can offer (beyond Domi, nothing of real value on this team). And starting to think Domi is not moved.

Kane's retention expires this summer. The McCabe retention is another two years. Only one retention slot left for this season. Maybe for Murphy? Looking past the deadline, they need to make sure that they keep a slot available for Tyler Johnson for next season, because he's likely to get dealt either this summer or next deadline. |

Think it will be a combo of cap casualties (+ sweeteners) and 1-2 older vets maybe looking to re-establish their market with more minutes than they would get elsewhere, or no other takers.

McGinn cleared waivers. Since the Pens seem to want cap space, get McGinn,a 2nd, and Poulin for the Hawks' most valuable trade chip: " future considerations" |

No matter what, this strip it to the bare bones blueprint for a rebuild could make the ones in Buffalo and Detroit look very short.

Gust was waived today. A great story, and it was so cool to see his parents celebrating his goal. |

Couple things dont add up. To me sounds like Kane had decided weeks ago he wanted to be a Ranger and KD was trying to get best possible deal from Rangers which he should do. Think Rangers threw a wrench in things when they signed Tarassnko and at that point were out on Kane. Thus the reaction of disappointment by Kane when he heard of Tarasenko deal. Rangers were moving on filling other needs but Kane pushed KD to get him to Rangers. The Kane to Rangers was going on for weeks prior to Tarasenko move. Think KD just misread things this the low return. Either way he did Kane a solid and hoping he signs a team friendly deal to stay. Good luck with Bedard hope you get him kid looks like a generational talent - hfc355
I think Tarasenko was always the Rangers first choice.

The Rangers also got Mikkola in that trade. Plus they were closer to the bubble at the time the deal was made. I don't blame them for pulling the trigger on that. The combination of the sense of urgency and the added defenseman, which is certainly coming in handy right now, I'd say they had to do that deal. By the time Kane was ready to go, they could have fallen further in the standings and been less likely to pull the trigger. |

Was looking at the bio for the player acquired from Phoenix in the Kane trade - Vili Saarijarvi.
https://www.eliteprospect...er/122954/vili-saarijarvi
Medium sized RD - 5-10, 183. He was in the Detroit system but didn't get a second contract, then went back to Europe and has been scoring pretty well the last 3 years (about .6 PPG), 2 yrs in Liiga, this year in Swiss league. Pius Suter was about 1 PPG in the Swiss league.
He might be a 3rd pair guy or someone for Rockford. They have his rights until summer of '24.
KD occasionally does these head-scratcher type acquisitions (like trading for Liam Gorman at the last draft), but maybe there is something there. Gorman is having a pretty good year at Princeton also. |

Someone must be coming off IR if Gust has been waived. |

I looked into him too. I concluded that he'll never play in the NHL and he probably will never play again in North America. He's a nothing prospect.

Certainly possible, makes you wonder why they asked about him though. |

Why waived? Need bodies. He falls short NHL talent? Cmon he isn’t bad, so why waive him?
Have to consider how KD reached cap floor next season, Suggestion has been to retain Toews. Well some deadline transactions like Avalanche adds Ellet. …how do they fit him in next season? And J Johnson is an extra? Players will be available either as free agent or dirt cheap. Don’t surrender draft picks for them, not even a late pick. Unless say our #7 round for their #6 plus the player dump |

I didn't understand why the Coyotes put anything on the table at all. Total speculation, but maybe it was a legal move to make the trade valid instead of "future considerations" |

Waived because they want to send him down to Rockford so this is just an on-paper transaction.
I don't think anyone intends to claim him. |

It includes a NTC. The best GM in the league giving them out like candy. Four of them so far. |
