What what the deal with Dach? I’m not sure why they traded him. I feel like it could bite them in the ass 😬 - Slimtj100
Dach was the consolation prize to a totally lost season. We should’ve had the twelfth or thirteenth pick but lucked into the third. That year’s draft was a bit of a toss up between 3-10.
Dach came up and was one of the most hit players in the league, meaning he took a ton of hits against him. He did well in the bubble against Edmonton. He went to the World Juniors as the captain for team Canada and absolutely destroyed his wrist, worth a Google if you have a strong stomach. He came back too soon later that season and was nowhere near the same. Played ok last season and got dealt for the pick that became Nazar.
I thought Dach looked like someone who could be like a Getzlaf or Voracek. Good size with a long reach, and sneaky great hands. He could pull of moves that reminded you why he was a top pick, but seemed to lack the killer instinct that all our cup stars had. Pass-first to a fault. Hope he does well in Montreal because he didn’t do anything here but try to help. |

Looks like Chychrun to the Sens...
The Ottawa Senators have acquired defenseman Jakob Chychrun from the Arizona Coyotes, per a team announcement. In exchange for the star defenseman, the Coyotes are receiving a 2023 first-round pick, a conditional 2024 second-round pick (originally acquired from the Washington Capitals) and a 2026 second-rounder.

Cut-out bin, have not heard that term since Rose Records closed and I had to go work for Tower records. Good stuff

Not that he's a terrible player, just not a difference-maker IMO. |

Dach was rushed to the NHL and while he might be a 50-60 point a year player, the Hawks expected an heir to Toews, too high expectations. Disappointed, and perhaps worried he'd be a Strome, KD traded him at what he felt was the highest they could get- a decent first round pick. - Popsghostly
Can't help but wonder what Dach's development would look like under LR? |

The Canucks I am not sure what they are doing. Are they improved over what they were before trading Horvat? Are they still in cap hell? Will they sniff the playoffs this year or next?
Ottawa is doing what a team that has been "rebuilding" for years should be doing- acquiring assets to try and make the next step (still to be seen if they make the playoffs this year even with these BIG moves).
What is KD doing? Still tearing down what came before, and hopefully building it back up.
Questions remain for all 3 programs. Just not sure the others are on the right track

I like the Sens team, they now have Chabot, Chychrun, and Sanderson on the backend, not a bad young top three. They could be a dangerous team next year when they get Norris back, but will need another point producer and a goalie. |

Considering where Vancouver is at, it's a Stan Bowman move if I ever saw one. |

When he was drafted and I did some research on him and watched a bit of him with the Hawks I landed on him having a high floor, lowish offensive side ceiling and thought of him as Ryan Johansson type.
Responsible defensive minded 2 way player with great size/skating and a pass first mentality. A 55 pointish 1B kinda centerman floor.

Love this move for OTT. Chychrun, Sanderson and Chabot as your core D with Chych signed for 2 more yrs at 4.6 per....... And AZ has been trying to move him for a few yrs it seems insisting on 2 1sts but OTT got him for only one 1st +.
And OTT ain't out of the playoff race this yr either. |

Hey Mo, curious if you hate Stevie Y, the Wings, the people who like either or parts of all of that? No right no wrong, just curious is all .......
The Wings look nicely positioned to me. Fine offensive core with Kasper on the way, Seider and Edvinson on the back end to build around, 1st rd pick goalie Cossa (I'm not a fan though) in the minors, a KD like stockpile of 2 1sts and 3 2nds in next yrs deep draft on top of his squad playing meaningful games late into this yr...... Looks bright in DET for all except for the haters to my eye.
One helluva haul for Hronek today.

Seattle has been quiet so far. With 3 second round picks in 2023 could they use one to acquire Domi? |

Possibly eventually. I still thought Yzerman pushed his chips in a bit early with some of the signings he made in the offseason.

Imo in the domi trade would like to see some prospects back in return plus also think hawks will be a third party broker in a trade in the next couple of days. Pitt Seattle Calgary all been quiet . |

Cannot see them making any moves- think they believe they are ahead of the plan and will enjoy this earlier than expected success, and stay the course. They also seem strong up the middle, so not sure Domi would be their target if they were going to make a move.

Maybe Domi to VGK? they are looking for a middle-6 forward. They are a little low on draft picks (no 2nd this year).
To VGK:
Max Domi
Jujhar Khaira
To CHI:
2023 3rd
2025 3rd
Maybe they could find a prospect from Vegas instead of one of the picks.

Good question, I hope so. Not sure they’ll offer more than Tkachuk, that could be an issue for Dcat. |
