We'll see how HuGo handles it ... I could see them giving him a "show me" deal (1 year or so). Show me that you deserve another contract.

I really don't have a clue what they have in mind to be honest.

yeah well it would be silly to offer him a longer term without a more extensive sample size.

ahh I see, thanks for the clarification. I thought the QA had heavier implications than this, doesn't sound too bad lol.
- Pat1993

poop's weird. Most guys will sign the long term deal at less money. Guys who do a qualifying offer tend to be looking to get out.

ok, well I have no clue how qualifying offers work... if he sucks next year, aren't they gonna be stuck paying the guy almost 3M? not the greatest plan.
- Pat1993

exactly. he is making 3M this year, and Dallas couldn't not move him. in fact they did move him, and the best offer they got was Dadonov.
do we really want to play in that movie again next year?

or you make him an offer for a 2yrs deal paying him 1.6M/yr. He knows he is not getting 3M as a UFA this summer.

maybe he will wake up and find his game, like Anderson seems to have done (finally!)
maybe worth keeping around next year.

I'm kinda hoping he turns out like another Darch (reclamation project).

He showed promise last night as he definitively has the right "toolkit" for the job (size, skating, shot) ... but like I said earlier, can he bring the same intensity every game?

This is the "honeymoon" phase, I want too see him perform over a much longer period ... we don't need another Armia.

Well I’m not defending Armia, but a motivated Armia is a pretty decent player..

he's good when playing for his own country, that's probably the last time we saw him being "motivated".

I know, I sound like a broken record ... but he REALLY screwed us up for years with the bad contracts he gave away.

Anyone want to comment on Gallagher's contract ... holy (frank)ing poop!

If he is permanently on LTiR, which I expect to see fairly soon (next year, if not this year), no problem.

That heart is there, the body is just broken.

Why buy out Hoffman when he's a pending UFA? Play him and trade him for peanuts.
