All went black and silent after Mr. Snider's passing. 🙏 - THE EVIL WITHIN
Mr. Snider had a giant voice when decisions were made throughout the league. He was very much respected, but there were some who had resentment for the organization. As they say...karma is a b*tch.
It's also not a coincidence the Flyers don't draft many or have had issues with Russian players...they didn't get over it.
I'm not taking blame off Fletch either because I don't think he is respected by others that some may claim.
There's a reason why the Flyers always seem to pay more and get less than others.

I watched a video from SDP on this. While they have a lot of pick in the next 3-5 years. They can only hold 50 contracts, so not all of picks will amount to anything. - WhiskeyMan
Can always use the surplus picks to move up in the draft or cash them in for young NHL players.
The surplus probably also allows them to to take more Russian and Europeans under contract that other teams may shy away from. Let them develop in their home countries and hold their rights for years.
Its a good problem to have. |

I’ve said it for weeks. JVr will be the deadline day top player - ClaudeFather
JVR is supposed to be a scorer but he has 9 goals. The Wild were in on him but look who they preferred. Johansson has horrible offensive numbers, hasn’t scored in over a month and failed as a top six with the Wild before. Nyquist won’t be back from injury until the playoffs. Do the Flyers want too much or is there no demand?

This is what I picture in my head:
Boss: Fletch, why aren't you improving the team?
Fletch: I'm tryin'...but but people won't take my call and when they do they offer nothing!!!
Is it any surprise Hextall isn't doing so great in Pitt? Hexy did a decent job loading up prospects and drafting, but the one thing he couldn't do was make any moves to help the team...

Hextall made plenty of moves to help the team. I guess it depends on what the definition of that is. Hextall in his time as the Flyers GM, was not really trying to trade or sign the team into contention. |

I don't get why the Penguins hired Hextall in the first place. When they hired him, I figured they were going to start rebuilding not keep hanging on for one last chance. Whether it was good or not he had a track record for clearing space and gathering picks. There is no record on him building up a contending team.
If you want a break from the Flyers misery, go read the comments on the Penguins blog...... |

How do you feel about the job Ronald has done in Pitt? Good trade yesterday?

Yeah, I thought they were close to getting Chychrun. They got Granlund who has a bad contract and looks like expensive insurance for Sid and Malkin. It looks like Hextall and Sullivan aren’t on the same page. If memory serves, Sullivan has term and Hextall doesn’t. It will be interesting to see how things play out.

That is true, but the end of his tenure, what was the biggest complaint (besides the office environment)?
What's the biggest issue with him in Pittsburgh over the years?
There's a reason why same teams deal with each other. The Flyers don't just need a new GM, they need a respected around the league GM.
If the Flyers wanted to dump a salary of 1yr/5.8m while retaining 50%...what do you think it would cost them? Do you really think it would only cost them a 7th? I wouldn't be surprised if it would cost them a 1st or 2nd.

(frank) this team if we don’t make a single real deal - 2Real
Well a week ago I'd think you'd be really disappointed with this outlook but after the past week it looks like teams have an appetite for players with some term. There were rumours about a lot of teams in on guys like Chychrun or Parayko being shopping. Ekholm got moved.
Maybe there's a deal to be done for the flyers but then they'd have to signal it's sell time. Rumour is Provorov is up for grabs.

Said he didn’t understand the extent of unnecessary, entitled people around the dressing room when he took the job.
Said he didn’t know about the dysfunction in the training staff as well as lawsuits.
Said he believes the chain of command is NOW Scott, Fletcher, than him. Implying their were other voices in between. |

no, but the cap he opened he used to sign JVR to a 7 mil dollar contract. and could be looked at as worse since we weren't in contention

Looking like the Flyers are sitting this trade deadline out. Maybe Fletcher has overplayed his hand a bit with the little he has, but then again I really don't blame him. Its not Fletcher's job to help other teams get better so he should demand as much as he can for what little he has. JVR, Braun and Brown just don't add much to another team at this point, just like they add little to the Flyers. They are all off the books after this season, so if Fletcher does not trade them does it really matter? I'm not going to miss the 4th or 6th round pick anyway. Heard LA is interested in Provey but Fletcher asked for Byfield in return, if true, again good for Fletcher. Screw LA, if they want Provey they are going to have to pay a steep price. That's the way it should be. |

Well based on what Fletcher stated the other day, you are getting what you have wished for, the Flyers drafting and developing. I'm fine with it as long as Fletcher also frees up cap space, so if there is a deal to be made the Flyers can at least be legitimately in on it. |
