Looking like the Flyers are sitting this trade deadline out. Maybe Fletcher has overplayed his hand a bit with the little he has, but then again I really don't blame him. Its not Fletcher's job to help other teams get better so he should demand as much as he can for what little he has. JVR, Braun and Brown just don't add much to another team at this point, just like they add little to the Flyers. They are all off the books after this season, so if Fletcher does not trade them does it really matter? I'm not going to miss the 4th or 6th round pick anyway. Heard LA is interested in Provey but Fletcher asked for Byfield in return, if true, again good for Fletcher. Screw LA, if they want Provey they are going to have to pay a steep price. That's the way it should be.

Fletcher should have zero concern about making another team better. If it is the right deal for his team and that happens. So be it. His team isn't going to be relevant for 5-10 years.

He's saying the things I want to hear and I enjoy listening to it, but it doesn't make me feel better about the team. It's so easy for him to play the babyface right now.

I'm listening to it now and I agree. He's saying a lot of what I want to hear. He's also validating much of what I already knew. I have two thoughts so far. What does it say about an organization when the coach has to come in tell them that the organization is not being professionally run? What does that say about the people running the organization? Next, although I agree with what he has said, I don't think he is the right guy to fix it.

Okay, what did I miss? Is there something to the Braun cameo?

They'll rebuild the team in his preferred image, heavy on checking and stiffness... and they'll be lucky if they ever win a round of PO hockey.

You'd hope that Spectacor would eventually reach the limit of their patience (like MLSE did) and just do a hard self-assessment that paves the way for a house cleaning.

I'm not holding my breath tho.

Sounds like Torts and Chuck will be trusted to oversee this latest "rebuild". Torts said that they met w/ Scott last Sunday and they're all on the same page now. Oh boy.

The sad part is that there is a large faction of the fan base that will be appeased by that. For the first half of the season, a representative group of fans were talking about how much improved the team was. How much more fun they were to watch. It was sad and funny. In that interview, Tortorella is still trying to sell playing hard. He's saying they're headed in the right direction and are back on track.

" We're trying to build this the right way. I think Dave feels that way and Chuck feels that way'

Since when? LMAO. So now Dave Scott wants to build it the right way. After that absurd and asinine press conference where he said he wants to be relevant, with a few moves they can get back in it. That he wants the team to be a cap team.

I'm embarrassed for Scott. He is a buffoon who is easily manipulated and has no fortitude. Whether that manipulation is towards the right or the wrong way. This franchise has zero direction.

There's always been a disconnect between Torts and Fletcher/Scott.

Lastly I agree with Torts not being the right guy to fix this mess. I still feel he is a good coach but I don't want him around a bunch of young kids finding their way. He's best suited for an established team ready to take that next step.

I don't know what to expect for the future of the Flyers at the upper level. I agree I don't think Torts should be the guy, but I've learned the value of "shoulds". Will he outlive his welcome, or is it possible he has more staying power than the people above him? He might just be putting himself over, but he's talking a good game should change come suddenly.

Understandably, but I don’t think it was the best choice of words. I know Torts just went off about arguing over grammar or terminology, but really the understanding of why that is happening—the frustration, anger and apathy of the fanbase—is important.

No one has really owned the situation even though Torts says it’s on the organization.

According to Tortorella, there is no disconnect. They're all on the same page.

Tortorella is no where near the right coach for an established team to take the next step. That's exactly what he's not. No team is taking the next step with his version of hockey.

A lot of thoughts running through my head. First, Hextall originally convinced Scott, Holmgren, etc that the team needed to change. The upper level though had very unrealistic expectations of how fast that would happen and eventually balked, lost patience and turned on that. That's when jackass Scott said that they can turn this around with a few moves to be relevant again and that they want to be a cap team. So now going on 5 years later, if Tortorella is to be believed, they now need to reverse and build it the right way? How long of a leash will be given for this version 2.0? Because it's going to get worse before it gets better unless the Flyers get extremely lucky extremely quickly.
