I would say more like Ottawa from 4-5 years ago.

Ottawa 4/5 years ago was trading players for top picks. And now they’re starting to see results a little

Look, I hate Fletcher but I am not pinning this deadline on him. JVR is not a good player, and frankly he never really was that good to begin with. JVR is slow and is one-dimensional. If other teams wanted JVR, they would have got him already. You clearly see the number of trades happening around the league; if a team wants a player they get the player! The only Flyer players from the current roster that have real value to contending teams are Hart, Provey, TK, Laughton and maybe Tippet. Maybe Hayes in the off-season if the Flyers cover significant salary. That's it. JVR, Brown, Braun, all cannon fodder that teams can easily get within their own systems. Maybe Vegas is desperate enough to trade their 2023 2nd or 2024 3rd, but even that is a stretch at this point.
- jd250

Have you not been updated on the TDL yet? A lot of movement of players that are dime a dozen for depth and most teams got them because other options fell through. If JvR was on Arizona, he would of been traded already.

No I’m actually not. I acknowledge the fact that yes fo USED excuse of speed of rebuild theory. And yes it was a factor. There were many factors. But the teams play and speed of rebuild was down the list. Those are facts. Some people (fans) may think it was higher up the list and maybe gave the benefit of doubt to fo about that

You know how it’s clear that wasn’t the major reason ?

Look around the hockey world when hexy was fired. Not fans because they know pretty much nothing. The hockey world. The gms the reporters all the people in the know.

They were shocked hexy was fired!!! Sent shock and awww through the hockey world.

Why is that? I mean surely EVERYONE saw the team was playing bad and had issues. It’s because you don’t just fire gm like that. Gm’s get pressure all the time. Even if you’re winning.

Something stunk to the heavens in Philly

And it’s been proven from what’s happened and still happening to this day that the stench has only gotten worse.

- SMS4016

Completely anecdotal and not logical. Nothing that anyone outside of the Flyers thinks, has anything to do with why Hextall was fired.

GM's are fired all time for their team not performing well

What should be pinned on Fletcher is where he has led this team too over the last 3 years… Today should be a layup day for this incompetent Bafoon.

There are other players that have value such as Sanheim, Frost, Cates and York.

Tippet, that weak prospect that couldn't hold down a spot on Florida that Fletcher got fleeced on. Remember?

- MJL

Sanheim with his contract? You are just being silly now! Frost, Cates and York are all young and not what a contending team would be looking for at the deadline. The context of my post is value from the current roster at this deadline.

Forget about all the good stuff and retrospect with the current day Senators...and that's the Flyers. When Ottawa was considered one of the worst run sports franchises EVER with Melnyk.

FYI: Melnyk passed away in March 2022...take a peak when Ottawa started to turn the corner.

Update: Another neat tidbit...do you remember the days when Chicago was one of the worst run franchises then they finally started to build up and won the cup...Bill Wirtz passed away in 2007.

You said they were the only players who have value. Not who might be a prospective candidate to be traded at the deadline. Yes, Sanheim has value around the league.

If that was the context of your post, why did you include Tippet? Is he not young? The same as Frost, Cates and York?

Just think about that statement…Sanheims contract. It was signed a couple of MONTHS ago and you need today to see if Fletcher is indeed incompetent?

- landros 2

layup day? How? You want Fletcher to give away Provey or Laughton?? Sorry, I don't see how this is supposed to be easy. The bottom line, putting aside the fact-less rumors that the media invent to get clicks, Fletcher has nothing of value to sell at this deadline. JVR will probably be moved for nothing at this point, because as I mentioned those teams that might be interested have already spent what they had on other players. JVR was not a priority for them and frankly, rightly so.

The #flyers are looking for a third-round pick back for James van Riemsdyk. Vegas, Winnipeg and Seattle among those with interest. Calgary has inquired, too, but no longer seem to be in a buying frame of mind.
-TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston

Vegas has a 3rd round pick this year from Buffalo as part of the Eichel trade.

I actually thought he was talking about player’s as well. The only thing that will anger the fan base more is if they announce they are extending Fletchers contract….could they be that stupid?

Melnyk had his issues but he let Dorian come in and implement his plan for a rebuild. Allowed him to trade the likes of Karlsson and Stone. It’s not easy for fans to see their best players traded…in fact a lot didn’t show up, but it was the right thing to do….hell they might even make the playoffs this year…fun team to watch.

So you are liking Torts now, right? The only one who has brought common sense to this leadership team, and has openly stated this teams needs to rebuild and had serious problems when he arrived! Heck, torts even got Fletcher to say "draft and develop" in his last presser. Its time you give Torts his due!

Nah brah. I get the ownership issue. I’m talking about what Dorian was doing. That’s what matters. No fan really cares what owner doing. They care about what the team is doing. The sens were making moves to stockpile top picks. How many top 2 round picks have they had over last 4/5 years? 25 ? The flyers are NOT the sens of 4/5 years ago. Remember the karlsson saga? Douchene? Etc. how did sens get studzle chabot Sanderson pinto etc?

Philly is in a class of their own. Trailblazers

"The plan" has been a farce. This was supposed to be an evaluation year, yet Sanheim was extended early in the season. Of course, gets scratched by the HC later. I just cannot believe Fletcher has lasted this long. I'm not pro Torts. For me, the only chance of a possible turn around is to remove the GM, then address the HC later. Alas, here we are it is March and the GM is still here. Sigh.

Yes, I love seeing the turn around of the Sens, plus seeing Giroux be part of it. I would love to hear what G REALLY thinks of the Flyers organization after he retires.

The point, no matter the sport, ownership is just as important as the front office when it comes to success of the team. Take Jerry Jones of the Cowboys, sure he got his super bowl wins by doing anything possible to win, but he also meddles a lot keeping the people he pay from doing their job.

If you're a high level executive in any endeavor and a subordinate below you stated that your organization is unprofessionally run, how would you react to that?
- MJL

Torts sure doesn't shy away from making Chuck look like an absolute fool at every opportunity.
