If you are torts...and say Barber via Scott hired you.....well, you have coverage from above the guy you are going after

Vegas traded their 2nd this year. They do have a 2nd next year and the year after, but I would rather have the 2023 3rd this year, because that would give the Flyers 3 3rd round picks this year, which they could package to move up into the 2nd if they target a player there.
- jd250

Rather have a 24 2nd then another 3rd this year.

Scott is ultimately in charge. When stating that the organization is unprofessionally run. That reflects on Scott.
- MJL

I do not disagree with you. But it is easy to give Scott coverage by deflecting to his trusted advisor, Barber et al.

Fletcher is scheduled to address the media after the trade deadline passes. Following that availability, if Chuck goes through with it, I will be ranking the reporters on how hard hitting the questions they ask are. From “asked what needed to be asked” to “organization lackey”.

If your torts and you basically agree with the public assesment of Fletch, in a normal business world, you could not go out in public and blast the management between you and the top.
Unless, you had the upper management support

Barber is not a public face to this organization. Barber is the guy who has cover.

It won't matter. Fletcher is an expert on GM speak and cliches. About the only factor of the job he has mastered.

You're not helping the case...the Flyers could possibly become one of the worst run ever. Not because they are losing, but because they think they are winning. Flyers #5.
- Glak18

Organizational dysfunction and mismanagement can be overcome if the people at the top get serious about change. See: Maple Leafs (MLSE/alumni meddling), Islanders (Milbury, Snow, Wang), Boston (refusing to pay their stars like Jumbo), Tampa (OK Hockey LLC).

Tiny market teams like Ottawa are truly constrained tho. There's really nothing they can do besides relocate to fix that.

I don't think there are any real parallels between the Sens' and Flyers' situations.

Which is why I think it is a coordinated effort to buy time to appease the fan base. Fans should reject giving leniency with the excuse

layup day? How? You want Fletcher to give away Provey or Laughton?? Sorry, I don't see how this is supposed to be easy. The bottom line, putting aside the fact-less rumors that the media invent to get clicks, Fletcher has nothing of value to sell at this deadline. JVR will probably be moved for nothing at this point, because as I mentioned those teams that might be interested have already spent what they had on other players. JVR was not a priority for them and frankly, rightly so.

Any of his UFA’s…look at the crud that’s been moved in the last 72 hours…layup day for sure. I’m thinking he will get some stuff done today but like the rest of his career it will be under whelming….then we get to hear how it’s tough to make deals…there’s only been 40 this week alone. I laughed when Fletch said his plan was to add reclamation projects…he should know his team is full of them.

I said that poorly.
Scott has coverage because he isnt a hockey guy and Barber is his hickey advisor.
No one (comcast above scott) will blame scott for taking the word of franchise icons

He already traded a 1st, two 2nds, a 3rd and a 4th for two RHD reclamation projects in Risto and TDA.

Sure, buddy. That's why the Flyers look so much better without him.

Really? I was told that under Tortorella, this team was much improved and more fun to watch. Jack Adams award winner. Hands down.

It certainly could be organizational double speak, sending good cop John to be the realist for the fans. On the other hand, he has nothing to lose. He's already done his winning and his earning, he doesn't need to worry about where he'll coach next, and he certainly doesn't need to worry about missing out on the good times here. Why not clout chase on the radio?

Either way, it's just entertainment to me, still status quo.
