You realize the team has gotten a lot worse since he left, right? - Tomahawk
That didn’t say much when his teams were pretty (frank)ing pathetic and didn’t amount to much while he coasted |

Doesn't even get PP1 time, it's pretty amazing. They're gushing about his leadership in Ottawa. - Tomahawk
He wasn’t on it last night but he has been getting some top pp time when I’ve watched…he’s also playing on the top line with Stutzle and Tkachuk. He’s playing really good. There has not been a drop at all in his play since last year. At this point he doesn’t have to be the guy, just a fantastic piece to the puzzle. |

He sure does. Derrick Brassard looks like he's having a bit of fun too for someone who's best days are behind him. I believe that he has more goals than the Flyers 4th line combined. |

Anything short of some resignations at the presser is an excuse to me. - Glak18

Yeah it's odd how former Flyers tend to look much better on other teams....
Curious to see if any teams sign JvR in the offseason.

He will get plenty of offers, just not at $7M/yr. and at very short term.

Look, I hate Fletcher but I am not pinning this deadline on him. JVR is not a good player, and frankly he never really was that good to begin with. JVR is slow and is one-dimensional. If other teams wanted JVR, they would have got him already. You clearly see the number of trades happening around the league; if a team wants a player they get the player! The only Flyer players from the current roster that have real value to contending teams are Hart, Provey, TK, Laughton and maybe Tippet. Maybe Hayes in the off-season if the Flyers cover significant salary. That's it. JVR, Brown, Braun, all cannon fodder that teams can easily get within their own systems. Maybe Vegas is desperate enough to trade their 2023 2nd or 2024 3rd, but even that is a stretch at this point. - jd250
Agreed, Flyers have C level players available for trade.

Yeah, probably get a 1-2yr contract worth 2.5-3m then pop in 19-23 goals then get traded at the deadline for a 2nd and a mid prospect.

And won’t trade the b level players. Which should be dealt too. Too late now. The music has almost stopped. No chairs left. Philly is the fat kid chasing a chair |

If your torts and you basically agree with the public assesment of Fletch, in a normal business world, you could not go out in public and blast the management between you and the top.
Unless, you had the upper management support - nails
So who’s the upper management support in this scenario? |

I would argue Sanheim and Laughton were not C level players. The organization chose to extend both before the trade deadline. I do not believe it is a stretch to assume the Flyers acquiring at least 3 draft picks and at a least a prospect in return. Plus, the cap savings. Now, the counter balance are both players viewed as fpundation pieces to a real contender. |

It certainly could be organizational double speak, sending good cop John to be the realist for the fans. On the other hand, he has nothing to lose. He's already done his winning and his earning, he doesn't need to worry about where he'll coach next, and he certainly doesn't need to worry about missing out on the good times here. Why not clout chase on the radio?
Either way, it's just entertainment to me, still status quo. - BulliesPhan87
All good points. I'm also thinking that maybe they're setting the stage for a fall guy in the near future. If that was the case, it could've been done to insulate others. |

I would not be surprised if there were members of the country club that want fletch out.
Its a lot easier tonuse torts not seeing "eye to eye" as a way to remove him.
Its more about pyschology than actual business.
There are so many different ways to spin this around.
By the fall, everyone could still be there or no one could be there
80s evening tv dramas had fewer characters and plot twists than this mess |

Don't feel too bad. Canucks turned down a Miller to pens trade because they don't think they are rebuilding or anything. |

I don’t think Torts needs to cover his ass…he’s been here for 10 minutes. This s—-show is not on him. He is like a blunt instrument. Everyone knew what they were getting. I like the honestly to certain questions but also realize he’s also an employee that has to tow the company line as well. - landros 2
he is shielding himself as he knows this will not be turned around while he is here. Everything he does/says is well calculated imo.
also anyone who doesn't think the flyers have assets or trade chips to move is just wrong. They are choosing not ot move them at this time.

are you going to discuss what team made moves that shouldn't? you brought it up yet no mention of said teams.
