Prove to me nobody wants him. I think you underestimate how much teams need depth in the playoff runs and even if he's in the press box and a 7th guy it's worth a 7th round pick.
- Aaron_85

Nobody traded for him.

I'm not underestimating anything. Teams do need depth for the playoffs but they don't need guys who can't play anymore. A 7th defenseman on a playoff team will likely be needed at some point on a long playoff run. He wouldn't just be a guy in the press box. There are too many other and better options.

Isn't it proof enough that the trade deadline has now passed and Justin Braun remains on the Flyers roster?

actually i hope the next step is send any of the kids down to experience the playoff run for the phantoms. don't care if we are dressing 9 skaters and 5 d men.

they gained a lot of experience this year. lmissing the last 10 games of the season won;t hurt.

- Peter Richards

I am the opposite. Let some D come up get acclimated to the speed of the game. Get an understanding of what you need to do to prepare for next year. Let the coach, for better or worse, see them play to see if they can contribute in the future. Zamula Attard Ginning all 23 years old.

No roster spots as of last night at midnight so roster space doesn't mean anything and plenty of teams willing to take on retained salary. Hung on too long, asked for too much. We can agree to disagree though.

That's a possibility.

For me, it's not that I think JVR literally has no value. It's that this crappy GM & organization that is stuck in the stone age overvalued him to the point that they likely balked at & turned down some mid/late round pick offers in recent days. Then dug in thinking they would eventually get an offer they felt was fair. But that never happened, and those offers that were previously viewed as unacceptable were probably no longer on the table. I agree that he should've been moved for literally anything
- Big_E_88

Yeah this narrative that these players have no value is ridiculous, some people need to justify to themselves that this organization can't help being incompetent.

I don't like JvR, since he's been drafted, but to say he has no value is baffling. These Frost moments people get excited about every 18 games...yeah most are driven by JvR. Yes, JvR is strongest on the PP, but net front presence when you're playing chippy playoff hockey...yeah that has value.

The fact is CF bumbled again and probably wasn't serious about trading him because he didn't want him to relocate. Loyalty is good, but loyalty and business never goes well together.

Big relief. Fletcher worked hard.

Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher says he ``didn't receive a firm offer from any team'' on JVR. Says they spoke with one team about a trade concept. But it was conditional on that team making another move. And that move didn't happen. Worked the market hard past few weeks but no fit.

No teams really interested...hopefully Chuck remembers this quote in the offseason because I don't want him re-signing him, even a minimum salary contract.

Well there's been reports from numerous outlets over the past few days about certain teams showing at least some interest in JVR. Were all those sources wrong/lying? Hopefully a reporter will press him on what exactly he means by "a firm offer".

A firm offer is an offer from a team agreeing to a trade. Rather than just exploratory talks. Interest is those exploratory talks.

Is there a cup for 5th most improved team, on March 3rd ? There are over 20 games left. That number can dwindle quite a bit.

i am super excited when they put up the banner for "the 5th most improved team".

Has the coach who made it possible agreed to come back next season ?

Not that Fletcher will go into specifics but I would really love to hear these lowball offers he was given for JVR.

Nevertheless I'm sure he'll hit us with the "we weren't going to just give him away" nonsense

Just another year wasted. Like I’ve been saying this team deserves nothing but pure vitriol hatred at this point. For nothing more than wasting their fans time.

I may have just caught someone in a lie...

So if there was a deal with DETROIT, but involved another team and Detroit moving another player first....that fell through.

Detroit was NOT the final destination for JvR, so that means they would just be retaining salary as a broker?

Here's the problem...Detroit maxed out their retention limit when they traded Vrana so they wouldn't of been able to do that anyway while working on JvR deal.

Now I'm curious who this player was they were moving and why it affected the retention limit.

Prediction: Chuck’s head will fall sometime this weekend and Briere is named interim GM.

Why? Is it hockey related? Nope. Because they desperately need something to sell the remaining muppet season ticket holders on for next season.

Yesterday I would have disagreed, but not today. MacEwen actually gave the team energy, and was liked by the players. He was starting to get points. He's no McDavid, but if you can get points from your 4th line, is a bonus. And Brown, who was sound defensively and was the classic board battle guy, - both developed to 4th liners from the waiver wire to be productive, gone for late round picks that will take years to develop. Yes, we got younger, but we also added another 5 years to getting players who can play any minutes at all.

I find that incredibly hard to believe. Maybe no real value in the offers but to say NO ONE called asking about him? BS.

Just watched his presser….for the first time I actually heard him say he hasn’t been good enough and knows full well they need talent. Thank Christ he didn’t answer saying they are the 5th most improved team. At least he didn’t laugh and smile….some questions from Charlie O’Connor were exactly what fans have been asking him to ask….so thanks to him.

He didn't say nobody called asking about him. He said he received no firm offers.
