If Scott believes the GM who built a failure of a roster is the one to tear it down and rebuild it, he is a moron. Armstrong in STL gets the benefit of the doubt because he won a Stanley Cup. Winning the #1 seed in the bubble is not the same. Hopefully Scott/ Barber understand the difference. |

If that's what Fletcher is going to stick with then I personally feel that makes him look worse.
He just got done saying the only thing he has are rentals to deal...the biggest one is JvR if he had no offers then he didn't do much of anything else. Certainly didn't take weeks to work out a deal for Brown, which probably took 3 minutes to finalize. MacEwen isn't a rental soooooo what did he do. - Glak18

It's not that the return for JvR was going to be franchise-changing. Mid-rounder at best, most likely.
It's that you HAVE to find a way to move quality rentals for SOMETHING. If it's a rebuild, how does today provide any confidence the front office can even sell properly? |

Wow I haven't seen someone so confused talking to the press.
He keeps pressing that he did everything he could do to work out a deal, like watching someone trying to explain to the cops why they didn't murder someone. |

I just want to know when the next alumni night is to celebrate these geniuses.
Anyone? |

I've been told he isn't quality though.
I think Chuck did a poop job. Part of what you do is sell your guys to someone. He seemed to just wait for it to come to him.

No. Big NO for a 2nd and 5th.
Would of taken Gurianov though. - Glak18
I really do not know anything about greenway except that he fell.off a cliff.
Would it really be worse to have him for JVR vs having JVR? |

I agree. Chuck keeps talking about getting value, yet his history shows he overpays and loses value. He's taking a 180 degree turn from 6 months ago.

The problem was that he wasn't dealing with Chuck Fletcher.

Well firstly Greenway has 2 more years @3m. So to answer your question, I would rather have JvR for 20 games then add more term.

Yes it would be. JVR is a UFA and is off the books after the season. Greenway has two more years after this year at 3M a year.

Ah, 2 more years is too much risk.
Thatsbonly a good move if he rebounds and you can deal him for assets later |

Maybe Fletcher is positioning himself to land Matthews AND McDavid as his one two punch down the middle?! I mean...wouldn't that be the dream?! - Aaron_85
I mean 1 max contract is allowed per team right? So give 1 max and the othe a dollar les. Couldn’t be any worse and would be exciting |

There is no limit on max contracts per team. There is not a single player in the league who has a max contract or even close to it. |

Exactly. It’s his job to make something happen. It’s a real bad look that all he could come up with was an incomplete Hail Mary pass at the last minute. At least he didn’t take on any more bad contracts. |

The smallest drop of hope that hangs by a thread, disappointment, anger, confusion, questions…just another day as a Flyers fan.

We need to check ourselves here. I think it's quite possible that Fletcher passed up a low ball offer for JVR at some point. Hoping that he would get a better offer. So if you think that is worthy of criticism, then that would be fair. However this idea that it's his job to make something happen. Trades just don't work like that. What should he use a jedi mind trick on another GM? He didn't have much to trade and there wasn't heavy interest in anything they had to deal in terms of a deadline move. Other GM's have a say and it takes at least two teams to make a trade. Expectations set too high seems to be an issue.

TSN did a fake draft lottery:
Columbus won 1st and Vancouver moved up to 2nd.
I want the Flyers to win so bad, but I also know that could save Fletcher. I'm torn, but not really. |

Well you also have to believe everything that comes out of his mouth too. He didn't throw any teams out there so no one has any reason to come forward, but just because he said it went a certain way doesn't mean it did either. So he's safe to say anything he wants as long as he doesn't throw another team under the bus.
Everything he has stated so far does not add up to go together. There are lies in there, but which ones are the biggest.
