Charlie O'Connor was talking about the succession plan the other day, said the team probably doesn't feel like Briere's quite ready yet. So either Chuck is staying on for a bit or they might hire somebody experienced to warm the seat up for Danny (like Uncle Lou stepping aside for Dubas, and likely Waddell stepping aside for Tulsky).
- Tomahawk

The Flyers are not smart enough to hire someone like Tulsky.

Bertuzzi is one one of the best power forwards in the game, a 30 goal scorer and a player in his prime. This was a great move by Boston!
- jd250

Bertuzzi is a good player but he is not one of the best power forwards in the game.

I know Briere seems to be the consensus heir to the GM position, but if Chuck only steps aside as GM and maintains his other role, what happens with his right hand man Brent Flahr? At some point, you think Chuck, being the nice guy that he is, is gonna' reward this guy for his loyalty and give him a shot as GM. Flahr stayed on with the Jackets after they fired Chuck, but willingly left Columbus when Fletcher came calling with the Flyers job.

So I'm curious to see how that plays out. Is Flahr a guy that is just happy to be there working with his pal and will be happy Briere is handed a GM job, or is he the type of guy that has aspirations to actually build and lead an organization one day?

- Flyerfan2868

He'll stay on as the assistant GM I'm guessing. You think they'd actually let Danny choose his own staff? He'll get saddled with a bunch of holdovers and organizational retreads.

Flahr is not GM material. Bringing the Wild's draft guru to Philly hasn't helped the team one bit.
- Feanor

Let’s see how some of the picks play out. Still on the fence with his drafting, simply because it’s to early to tell.

In the midst of a record breaking season the Bruins make a trade, and lock up Pasta in the course of an hour? Is that allowed? GM's can multi-task?

Could have played it better for sure but 3v3 and Tarasenko had a lot of speed coming at Risto. I don’t blame RR, Frost or Hart, good play by a real good player, who has a great shot
- wcorvette

It was a set misdirection play that Ristolainen fell for. He took himself out far too wide and out of position and then had to scramble and had himself off balance with bad stick and body position and Tarasenko twisted him like a pretzel. A 10 year vet should be able to snuff out that play. It's typical Ristolainen who doesn't understand angles, positioning and fails to read plays. That being said, it was a saveable shot.

They weren't smart enough to grab him when there was a rush on analytical minds getting hired to NHL teams and he was in their own backyard. No worries, we have Braves pitcher and Jethro Tull legend and his crack analytical staff. They're the ones who provided Fletcher with the 7th most improved team numbers and 7th youngest roster to bandy about in his press conference!

I don't feel he is either, but with Chuck having dual roles in the organization, and unlikely to willingly step away from both positions, I don't see how they can escape the possibility given their history. Quite frankly, I think there needs to be an entire cleansing of the organization, before it can actually move forward

Correct, Tarasenko came up the middle with speed and Risto had to respect that. Then Tarasenko quickly changed course to the outside and Risto did well to get his stick in there. Hart should have stopped the puck!
- jd250

Ristolainen didn't respect that. He missed it and took himself out wide out of position. Really poor body and stick position.

Have you seen their age distribution chart? That's industry leading cutting edge stuff.

5 picks in the first 2 rounds this year for Detroit, all of which could end up being non-playoff team picks. Plus, almost $30 mil in cap space next year with the majority of their core signed.
- TobyFlenderson

Depending on where those picks land I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them dealt for a player. Similar to the Debrincat trade.

14 points and only four goals in 29 games at age 28. He's basically the new John Lecalir.

Flyers are probably just waiting for tomorrow to do something....

The fans are so antsy waiting for anything to happen and Fletch is smart enough to know that if he is going to (frank) up again then do it on a Friday so everyone forgets about it over the weekend.

Yeah, that's it.

Look at the conference. Can anyone realistically believe they will be a playoff team in the next 5 years? How about a legit contending team?

Doesn’t matter to Comcast one bit as long as people keep showing up and for some stupid reason the people keep showing up.

Nothing Comcast has done shows they care one bit about the on ice product.

Bruins clearly going all-in. Seems to me that they would be a great fit for Seeler. Inexpensive depth defenseman that is cost controlled for next year too at a more than reasonable price. Can never have too many capable Dmen.
Not sure what draft capital they have left, but would think that they're still capable of offering more than fair compensation for Seeler. Even if it involves a pick from future drafts.

Was at the game. I've never seen anything like that with how many Rangers fans were there. Farabee was brutal. So easy to take off the puck. 2 D in OT is beyond laughable at this point. Like seriously not funny anymore.

If last night is any indication, they seem to be smoothly transitioning into filling the building with other teams' fans.

It was all due to a good NZ setup. Gotta give credit to the Rangers there.

Yeah, good 3v3 play and talent win out. Sure, RR could have been a step closer, Hart could have come up with the save but it was the talent of Tarasenko that made the play
