Sheldon Keefe on dressing 7 D: "There was a lot of miles on our defence last night. Our forwards, for the most part, it was kind of an off night for them & they weren’t on offence very much. The defence, we can share the minutes & on forward we should have lots of legs ..." |

Implying my sentiments from last night: You can't count tonight as the second half of a back to back because they didn't (frank)ing play yesterday |

Like I said the other day, Keefe needs "his guys" taken away from him. Dubas 100% needs to trade Holl before tomorrow ends.
Hopefully some GM on a tanking team saw Holl throw a couple hits last night but also be the worst player on the ice that can help their tank.
Just need to ignore that he lost a fight to a guy in the napkin-weight division. - GreatGigInTheSky
Holl is a skinny guy - only 197 lbs.
Sploogent-Napkins listed with 184 lbs, so they're both f'n midgets |

I like that take. I saw it too ..our D was out there defending too much b/c most of our forwards were too easy to play against. The attempts at/on net were pretty close but Leafs generated nada high danger stuff. Too many guys just happy to put it on net and get to the bench. I blame Springsteen. |

I'm assuming Holl has the physique of a 11 year old. Nuge was able to grapple for position then toss nuckles way too easily. Holl needs some upper body strength. |

Very little to enjoy about last night for Leaf fans. The hit by Holl on McDavid was nice, and the hit on that dirty little back stabbing female genitalia Yamamoto was a beauty. Taking RNH out for five minutes was a bonus - good trade. That he lost the fight - who cares? Not much from JT's line except suffering, Samsonov with the .844 SV% vs. .928 for Skinner was part of the story. Leafs were awful for the most part. |

Liljegren took a wicked hit to the head/neck yesterday, Max declared him dead. A game of rest is ok gigsy.

Yes he did. To his credit, Muzzin didn't do much after Max declared him dead.

They're calling it a healthy scratch, though. Liljegren's gone down hard a few times this season, so I can understand him needing a rest. But benching arguably their best guy all season is (frank)ing insane.
And that literal waste of space Holl is still playing. He was (frank)ing abysmal, yet again, yesterday. |

This is how the D shakes out IMO and I'm more looking at complimentary pairings and NOT 1st pairing, 2nd pairing, 3rd pairing but I am structuring it with LD/RD combos as a priority.
1st contingency would be Keefe playing the pairings the proper amount of minutes/game by making the pairing earn minutes in that game. So bench the poopty pair as much as you can but don't (frank)ing change the pair.
Rielly should be with a D first guy. Period. That's Schenn. Don't care if they get 8 minutes a night. Rielly sucks a D.
McCabe and Brodie, solid all the way around if they have time to get used to each other.
Gio and Lily, works so don't (frank) with it. Control their minutes and it works great.
Benn and Timmins replace LD or RD for injuries.
McCabe, Brodie covers 1st line
Gio, Lily covers 2nd/3rd line
Rielly, Schenn covers 4th and 1st - underhill14
Boudreau said on Overdrive tonight that he wouldnt put Schenn with Rielly..Its too many minutes for him..BB had alot of good things to say about the Leafs..Before his playing days he was also a floor sweeper at the Gardens...Next coach perhaps?? |

Nah. Stupid poop happened all the time before, but that was when the Leafs were a mess.
This is right up there as a peak stupid moment for them when they're really really good, though.
It's right behind giving Holl a (frank)ing partial no trade clause. |

I think its just giving Lily a night off. I dont think Keefe is upset with his play or anything.
But yeah i see your point. Its (frank)in clown world out there this week. But i don't think the Leafs have hit anywhere close to peak stupidity yet |

I think Keefe understands what happens when the forwards turn the puck over in the neutral zone and McD and gang come back with space and speed. The forwards stunk. The D was bad. Let’s see what happens tonight |

Holl is Keefe's guy, I wouldn't be surprised if he is resigned in the summer for 3 more years at 3 per. We all know its happening....

Calgary is a team loaded with goons. They are sitting outside a playoff spot - what do you think Sutter's game plan is tonight? Dressing Schenn - even if Leafs lose, might not be the worst idea. Holl - that's a different matter.
