Did we trade for Saros and Wilson yet?

Sens could possibly win a round if they trade for a couple solid players today - they're far from awful...

They have some decent pieces - and I'm trying not to downplay this. I like a lot of what they have - and they have good things in their pipeline as well. I'm just not sure they're there yet.

Up front they have a decent mixture of skill and grit which is always good - and they have those great-to-have guys in Tkachuk who is grit and skill and compete together. I can hate him being a Senator and appreciate him equally. Stutzle is an excellent player, but don't tell anyone I said so.

On D they shored up a bit by adding Chychrun, but they have Chychrun with Holden, Hamonic with Sanderson and Chabot with Zub - they can also throw Brannstrom into that mix. I don't like to judge young defensemen too much because it's difficult - but I thought Brannstrom would be better than he is, especially by now - but I think Sanderson is going to be an excellent player. I still don't like Zub, Holden - or defensively Chabot - and I'm pretty meh on Hamonic, too. Ultimately you swap out Chychrun for Zaitsev and your D is immensely better, but it was very bad before, so he's not changing it from very bad to good on his own.

Curiously most of the goalies behind them have played alright with what they face - Talbot has been better than I thought he'd be - and Sogaard in a very limited amount of time has performed well. Their stats are inflated due to the quantity and quality of chances they face.

Ultimately I think they need more than one or two pieces that would be available at the deadline to fix their D. But I like how they play.

Id still go all in for Saros if he can be had. Big upgrade over our goalies. I do wonder if Nashville is going to go full rebuild, or try to retool though.

I don't understand why everyone (not just you Archaic) is suddenly fretting about goaltending and claiming Saros is the answer?

Leafs have the 6th best GAA at 2.52, 8th best Sv% at .909. In addition Saros hasn't done jack in the playoffs - he hasn't won a single series.

If the only way people will be happy is if the Leafs have the absolute leagues best forwards and scoring the leagues best D AND the leagues best Goalies then they will never be happy because no team has all of that.

BTW Tampa is 20th in GAA and 11th in Save % and yes everyone can clamour about how 'money' Vasi is in game 7, but Saros is not Vasi.

I'm fine rolling with what we have right now between the pipes, especially if Murray comes back and is healthy and plays like he did early in the season.

He should play regularly. They need a little (frank) around and find out in their own end, you could see a few guys find their legs when Schenn started dork tossing.
