They should get better when healthy but they are not good defensively from the defense out.
Kane hopefully gets better but after tarasenko I would’ve traded for orlov and asked about Wilson who let have been available. That would have been a more complete PO team - nyrangers2
But they didn’t, they decided to go for more skill. I just don’t get the point of harping on it now. This is there team might as well buy in and get excited. If they lose you have all summer to come here and tell us told you so.
Wish we could all just get behind them and hope for the best. Would be more fun here |

Before we got Kane, how would you have liked the lines to look? - aecliptic
I’m not saying don’t get anyone, I just wouldn’t have gotten Kane. |

I think it’s bc we all see the inevitable and your just denying it |

Have you seen anything that might hint that they have played well together?? You would have thought that with all the hype it would be just a little bit better. But to produce nothing and have more turnovers than chances isnt a step in the right direction. - Brukie
It was a joke. I'm looking forward to the four days off with practice. And for Bread to do something besides take every opportunity to pass to Kane. |

He’s past his prime and doesn’t play defense/back check. When ur the superstar of your team (like he was during those cup runs) but the rest of ur team is responsible defensively you can get away with it. When you have 3 guys (Kane/Panarin/Tarasenko) that all play like that, it’s a problem. Did u see the way boston hustled back in their own zone and took all the space away? That’s y they’re so affective, not bc they have 3 guys sitting up top waiting to cherry pick and break away - nyrangers9479
That's definitely going to be an issue in the playoffs. |

I’m not saying I’m not bought in. They just went for skill when a more glaring need/fit could have happened. Hopefully they got hot before the playoffs and really commit to team defense. They need to in order to win

Well we'll have a 1/16 chance like everyone else come playoffs time, so the naysayers are always gonna be more likely to be able to say told you so.
Let's just be fans that support our team, agree or disagree with the moves made this year. |

I’m not denying anything. The East is tough no matter who we added. But I am all in. There is all summer to be negative |

Best thing that could happen is the Bruins peak and collapse during the playoffs.
Which is unlikely. |

Pretty sure a team from the East is going to win the Cup. |

The team is built for offense which I get. They just need to commit to better team defense and change the way they breakout of their zone |

As much as I obviously hate that guy (see my avatar), he is exactly what we needed. |

This isn't directly a response to anything you've said but it's connected to the whole conversation:
I don't think any amount of time to build chemistry or getting back to a full roster is going to get us anywhere close to beating Boston. They are an absolute juggernaut from top to bottom. Hopefully we don't have to an someone else does it for us along the way. That's assuming we can get out of the 1st and 2nd rounds. This is a brutal year to be a competitive team in the east. I'll be cheering the whole way but goddamn. |

I agree it won’t be easy at all. But outside of a first round pick where we have 2 this year and Kravstov we really didn’t give up much. Not like we mortgaged the future. I have no problem all summer with people being pissed if they fail, that’s fair. Just feel like they made their moves and are going for it with skill. Let’s just hope for the best and get in lol |

It’s not an I told u so. It’s, look at how every Stanley Cup championship team has been built. Look at the additions they made at the deadlines. They all added role players/depth/grit, not a 34 year old that might need hip surgery in the off-season. |

Those are definite issues that I don't see improving. I don't know how GG would address that. Like you said, this team is built for offense, the breakout should be better. |

Well, here’s basically what needs to happen for us to succeed:
- Kane needs to get it going, not unreasonable to expect
- kid line needs to put up points consistently, not unreasonable to expect
- 4th line needs to settle in and play meaningful, shutdown minutes
- Igor needs to be at least like 75% as good as he was last year
- Team defense needs to be much, much better. Getting out of the zone too
- power play needs to get much, much better
It’s a lot that needs to go right. here’s hoping |

I’d add (at the risk of sounding too negative) that it’s not like we’re halfway through the season. There’s 19 games left. Certain things aren’t going to magically turn themselves around |

Agree with all of this.
-He will, needs some time to settle in. Glad for the four days off.
-Need to play that line more. Laf with two today was huge.
-Yes
-Needs to channel his inner Hank
-That comes from GG making them more responsible
-Put Zib back in his office to start. |

Majority of the defense issues are people all alone in front of the net/slot. Need to adjust there. Have the fwds not so high up for an easier breakout. The defenseman aren’t good enough on this team to be left on an island |

Exactly. Too late in the season to make those adjustments. Going to have to see how the new players mesh. |
