I'm happy with Greenway and Stillman. - SABRES 89
Takes care of a need, and there both young enough to hopefully fit into are system. |

I think the 7th round pick in return backed every shot I took at asplund.
He's a tweener.
Somehow your gonna go down fighting on Elmer island .
I find it hard to give asplund the nod over olofsson for who's slightly less soft. - Boss34
Rivet called VO the softest player ever to wear a Sabre uniform. I think he's probably right. |

Everyone is advocating for 4 lines that can skate and drop the traditional checking line.
Girgensons krebs greenway is getting closer .
Maybe peterka Krebs greenway? - Boss34
Sabres have to much talent coming up not to go away from that. With a young team and the players that are already locked up. Sabres are gonna have some talent flowing through their bottom 6 |

Dahlin, Power, Joker, Bryson, Stillman, Lyubushkin all have 1 year left on their deals.
Want to upgrade your D? Going to take a hockey trade, or a multiple move equivalent.

Pretty much, unfortunately with nothing in the pipeline, they are gonna have to figure that out. |

There are no excuses this summer if they're serious about improving our home team. No trades seems to equal no seriousness towards winning. |

Yeah, I'm not gonna defend olofsson's toughness.
You need a few guys that can score goals.
It's the combination of a guy like asplund, who isnt tough and doesn't score goals, that gets a 7th rounder in return.
Olofsson probably has late 1st early 2nd round value IMO.
Maybe a 2nd and a 5th. Similar to greenway's value IMO |

Definitely light in the pipeline, but pretty top heavy with dahlin, power and samuelsson.
Hypothetically, if we continue to draft well at forward, we could make a trade eventually.
A lot of posters were disappointed that we didnt use any if the 3 1sts on a defenseman. Hopefully we hit and could trade if needed. |

I was more mad at pick 41 last year, there were some Quality D at that point still on the board |

-Just saw Evolving Hockey GAR/xGar Model for Greenway for the 19-20 season. Looks like coaching change effected his game in a negative way or he has broken down a lot. Hoping for the former.

This week was a strong reminder how hard it is to trade for D. Learning opportunity for KA. I'm sure he listened and took notes.

At some point, hopefully in the very near future a drouin for sergachev type trade has to happen. We have a few drouins in the system (minus the 3oa pedigree). As much as I liked the savoie pick, he seems like the guy that could bring in a true top4 in a one for one trade and I won't lose sleep if it happens. |

This team is so close to greatness. Hopefully buying us some street cred this summer. We have one of the better cores and prospect pools in the league. Time to close gap. Get a prominent D-man, a prominent winger for Cozens, and a real goalie and watch this team go nuts next year |

Don't hold your breath.
GMKA: Savoie and Kulich were "non-starters".... Adds, "I'm really excited about our prospect pool -- and so is the rest of the league because there were a lot of questions." |

I'm definitely not. You have to give to get though. Let's see if ka has a poker face and a long game. If it's known now that those guys are "non starters" it should drive their value up even more to other gms. |

That and how having No young D in your Pipeline can affect making trades cause you don't have pieces other GM's want. |

Also, comments from After the Whistle about Greenway before the trade and a willingness to trade him for Mitts. Interesting:

He is the golden gofer boy. We will ship him home this summer, hopefully in a 3 way deal that lands us a goalie |

I like the long game. Put it out there just before the draft that Mitts is untouchable and watch his stock rise . |

Good thing for the Sabres is they have a lot more than just Savoie and Kulich. |

I do too, but only if our glorious gm actually grows a pair big enough to make the move once the stock rises. |

If Dahlin is out any longer and with Tuch hurt. We are probably missing anyway. We could lose our next 6 games (think we are dogs in all of them).
He made some trades in areas he saw we needed some help (size and toughness). He will make a nice move this off-season, I feel confident in that - Fattony1187
If Matthews does not re-sign and somehow becomes a UFA, they are all in to try and get him to join the Sabres.
There's a connection with Tage and Matthews that they believe helps, and they know the impact it would have on Matthews current team.
It's part of the reason why they're trying to maintain as much cap space as possible going forward. |
